The Germans were Christians. They believed that Jewish forces had somewhat altered Christianity for themselves. The Germans wanted a more pure Christianity. One which had not been usurped by Judaism. I’m not saying they were correct, but if you really look deeply at it, that’s their motivation. But they were 100% Christian. That they were not, is just anti-German propaganda.

Himmler, who also grew up in a Roman Catholic household was also looking for Mjölnir, so checkmate. Does that mean he has faith that Thor’s hammer actually holds power over his supposed Christ? It doesn’t matter if they believed Jesus or not, they were obsessed with gaining esoteric power from ancient artifacts that could help them win the war, and ironically, the Jewish artifacts were a first look before looking to the Norse-Pagans.

It doesn’t matter their religious background, if he had faith in Jesus all his life, then he wouldn’t have grown into the demon he came to be. Edit: that’s also not saying he was an Atheist, since there are no morals or belief in anything in Atheism to begin with, but he was very likely interested in Gnosticism i.e. esoteric beliefs, which like I said are synonymous with the occult.
