Sad fact: this was technically made by Divide (some people call him Divine) Divine was a modder/dev for sonic.exe. But one day, he died in his sleep from cancer. Apparently though, someone saw his sketch of this alternate boyfriend character, and made a whole mod about it. While the lyrics do reference girlfriend, it also references Divide and how If Divide was alive right now, he would be proud. And the stay awake part references how Divide died in his sleep, saying for him to stay awake to see what he had created.

The only thing he has left to define him is his likeness, so he latches on and demands approval from the one thing that holds any semblance of meaning to his existence. His identity now revolves around it, but BF, after hearing him bear his heart, wears the same smile. He waits for a reaction, anything from BF, but he carries on. He just thinks it's part of the song, it's lost on him. All Yourself can do is repeat himself in hope that it makes an impact. But there's no getting through. To BF, he's just a "Silly Billy". The lyrical part genuinely almost made me cry. This is a beautiful song, and a perfect way to honor Divide. This truly feels like the final boss of FNF, moreso than anything ever before... i'm so glad this mod isn't just edgy for the sake of being edgy; it's about grief, not being able to move on from a loved one passing away, and the depression and sometimes anger that comes from feeling that way. not only that, its extremely well drawn and the music is amazing. i love the little touches like the notes reflecting into the mirror when yourself sings, and the microphone flashing red and being able to see girlfriend surrounding yourself in the singing section. this might be the best mod i've seen yet, i would play it but i have a mac, so watching gameplay will do for now.

It seems that no one's noticed, but the reason that the song is called silly Billy is because it's a nickname that " yourself" was given by GF. It's seen in the music video's thumbnail

The urge to climatically rap battle with the personification of my own regret, grief and resentment rises everytime I hear this. I hope Divide rests in peace.

Even the slightest details, from the own version yourself does of “ oh, yea, haha! “ at 2:56 , the shaking hand movements at 5:05 , to the red smoke of gf and her line behind “ long enough to see “ , and to the way yourself finds himself breaking out of his continuous painted grin really pulls the ENTIRE mod together. Not a moment was this mod cringey, or at all weird. It builds a beautiful representation of what grief can toll on a person. Truly a masterpiece.

The pain in his expression when he sings the lyrical part is like a man fighting through the pain to put a smile on but when he got to the lyrics "How proud you are of me" he looks like he's about to burst into tears.

Churgegy Does Not Miss. I haven't really heard a song of his the fails to hit it's appeal, I've heard plenty of others that are good but have major flaws that take away their unique aspects becoming bland as a result. Churgegy gives it emotion, which then applies what the songs should be about mainly: Giving a feeling. Though while there should be unique ones aslong it gets you to care about it in way I'd say It's a good song.

Other way around, the leitmotif used in Subterfuge was actually from this song. Notice that Honkish was part of the team for composing it. The melody was made for this song, and then repurposed as a sly reference in Subterfuge.

Yourself rly is tragic; he's smiling the entire time until the line about making Herself proud of him. Literally tugging at his own heart and going so hard he shatters the glass behind him, but when she finally responds and sings with him, he drowns it out because that's just how far he had to go to reach her in the first place, pretty well affirmed by the purple that becomes more vivid when she starts singing (literally combination of bf and gfs blue and red) fades just into blue as that section comes to a stop.

Just a quick thing: Notice how the red colors of both versions of Boyfriend disappear after the lyrical part, and, given the context of this song being that Girlfriend passed away in Yourself’s and ( I think ) the main Boyfriend’s world ( Yourself being the tall Boyfriend ) I feel like the red disappearing symbolizes both of the Boyfriends moving on, the main one realizing that there is still meaning in rap battles post Girlfriend, and Yourself feeling like he has finally made Girlfriend truly proud and, therefore, feels that he’s finally come to peace with Girlfriend’s death.

I think its actually a bit different. I think yourself represents giving into grief and using validation to try and escape that pain. Boyfriend represents confrontation of those feelings, choosing to stay strong, and the desire to move on. He's still affected as you can see with his expression being a bit more serious and his colors being faded, but at his core, he's still himself, and he's still trying.

Alternatively, it could also represent how much Yourself misses his girlfriend after her death. You know the adage that life loses all of its color? Since Girlfriend and Herself tend to be represented with the color Red, that color completely disappears during the lyric section. After Herself’s death, Yourself’s world became much less colorful…

Is it bad that i cant get yourself and his words out of my head? Lol. Ive already listened to this song so much. It's a beautiful and emotional song. I wish there was more lyrics because its so good.

I have some lore: This version of BF was made by Divine, or Divide. He worked on the sonic.EXE mod and he passed away a couple years ago. He drew a sketch of this character. So, back to the characters backstory, his name is actually Lookalike, and in his back story, he's from another timeline, and his GF dies there. But his GF is in his mic. The lyrical part is him talking to Divine as he died of cancer in his sleep. Also you can see his version of Girlfriend for a split second in the lyrical part. When his GF died, he was in denial and didn't take care of his body or clothes. Boyfriend is actually canonically a lanky 19 year old though he is portrayed as a midget. Boyfriend is canonically pretty tall (7 foot tall), and he's just drawn small by Phantom Arcade to represent his innocence in contrast to characters like Daddy Dearest. Lookalike happens to be a Boyfriend who LACKS that innocence, considering his size. (The last two sentences were taken from @lexcentrique2554's comment.)

The atmosphere for this is so wonderfully charged in all kinds of ways. Yourself captures a lot of BF's usual energy, but even beyond looks something's very clearly snapped in his mind. The smile is either forced to try and keep things light, or a default position for his face that betrays the maelstrom welling up in him. He's lost any kind of restraint he has in his posture and poses in an effort to capture your eye. All that being said, it feels like Yourself isn't outright trying to be hostile so much as he is desperately trying to change course, either by making sure BF never has to see his girl die like he did, or by taking over BF's life to do it himself. It gives off the feeling that all he wants to do is make the suffering and heartbreak worth SOMETHING, otherwise he chased a tainted dream that cost him everything, including his love, for literally nothing.

I don't think Yourself wants to take Bfs life and keep his GF for himself, it just wouldn't really feel the same. Sure their the same person but it be like losing a dog you loved with every fiber of your being that was taken from you too early and someone gives you a similar dog, same breed, and expect you to be better because you have something to fill the void in your heart, but you could never love a pet as much. Sure you can love this new dog. But nothing will ever replace your previous pet. No matter how hard you try to lie to yourself about it. So I would believe Yourself is just wanting to warn BF that he's needing to lose his cocky attitude and appreciate the time he has with GF, as their is no telling when one is taken from the other.

what's really interesting to me is that after He sings, shattering the mirror behind him and temporarily losing his connection and grasp on Herself, all of the red hues drain from the palette (even from our BF). She's so important to both of them that they became duller just losing Her presence.

Here is a theory when he is singing the red smoke is actually gf(yourself gf) if you pause at the right time and stop can hear her sing as well (if you listen close) so when yourself says my way his colours (red and blue hair and clothes)become purple to show them becoming one or residing with one another.(Another theory at he start of the intro when the mic hits bf it is red showing that gf is always with him and maybe it became pitch black when she not inside it at he moment Ik this because i BC if you look at our bf mic its normal but yourselfs is not) until next time friends

By far the best fnf mod I’ve ever played, thank you churgney! You’re so amazing

honestly unbelievable that one mod could wake most of the fnf community up, they actually worked pretty hard for this mod to make it great surely

the fact that this was basically the last BIG fnf mod update before the main update came out, is really beautiful. It really does feel like a perfect final send off, with how long it is, the characters, the music itself, and the fact that some of this song, if not all of it is dedicated to divide, is truly just.. beautiful. I like to think that this really is the true final song for fnf modding. after everything that BF has been through, it all traces back to him. Truly a wonderful sendoff, even though it wasnt supposed to be.

I like that from 4:27 onwards whenever Yourself sings you can actually hear a bit of BF's voice in his (a higher bf-like pitch). It's like he's getting so into the song and the mood that he starts to get genuinely excited and happy again, just like how his younger self was.

Honestly this song has been making me rethink my life ive been going through old photos and stuff and listening to the lyrics on repeat. Im not sure why this song is resonating with me so much with me and my heart but im letting it flow through me looking for the answer. It makes me feel depressed but also makes me wanna change my life for the better and makes me want to be with family and friends before me or one of them are gone forever. Is this just me or anyone else getting hit this hard?

This is the most greatest mod, in my opinion, I've seen so far. There are many intresting small details such as yourself saying, "Oh yeah, Ha ha," like boyfriend does when yourself was morphing back to its original body figure, or when herself's soul appears in that one clip when he says, "Just long." But in my opinion, I like how when Yourself sings in that one clip, it represented Divied's death and how the creator of this mod wanted him to see it. This mod is genuinely awesome and deep. Congrats to the creator!

This mod and this song were released a few days after my best friend died, he loved fnf and he would love this mod if he were here now. The lyrics of this song made me cry a little because it reminded me of the good times that we managed to have. Thank you for making this mod, an incredible mod made by an incredible team.

Fun fact:bf if iirc can actually canonically sing normal but instead chooses to beep boop. And the lyrical remix version of fresh is bf's canon voice singing for gf. this comment had me look back on that just to confirm and i found something else instead. in the lyric part after awake i thought that was blood coming out of him from him twisting his body but it aint. for a few frames you can see its the spirit of yourselfs GF that he lost.....actually with this i now think the whole lyric part he sings is for his GF.
