You were right on Nunez. He has a goal/assist every 95 minutes - it’s not just his presence, he has elite numbers. The other guy contradicted himself with Grealish directly afterwards. Judging Nunez only on goals because of the price is like judging Grealish as a £100m forward on goals and assists - Nunez is more productive in that and it’s still a 1-dimensional way of looking at it. Bringing him back on when he looks a bit silly.

Nieve is an absolute level above the rest of the pundits on this show. Speaks with great authority and knowledge. Would be a welcome addition to the punditry on games.

Núñez has 5 goals and 6 assists in 19 games in the league with a big chunk of those coming off the bench or coming off after 60 mins. A goal or assist almost every 90 mins. People can make narratives all they want but the man is effective

Nunez is definitely a hit. His g+a per 90 is really really good. He gets subbed on or off a lot and that makes his stats look worse when you look at appearances. Anyone who watches the games knows what nunez brings to the team. Right now we're top of the league and we wouldn't be without him

I've been defending this guy from day one he joined our team with Liverpool's weakest midfield under Klopp other than when he first took over Liverpool. People don't realize what he's doing on the pitch as far as drawing players out of position pressing and creating lots of opportunities for other players to run into

Nieve smashing it out of the park as usual. Her call on Numez was spot on as it was backed up deeper insight into what he actually brings to Liverpool rather than just looking at superficial goals scored and the price tag. 👌👊👍⚽

I think Nunez has been a hit and i think Nieve hits the nail on the head. It would be an issue if Darwin wasn't in the positions he gets in, but he does and once he starts putting it into the back of the net he will be a 20+ goals a season player.

@@mca1881 Isak still has played more PL minutes than Nunez though. Isak is there to finish and he´s superb at it. But he barely creates any big chances for his teammates (1) while Nunez has 7 big chances created while also having 6 assists (most in the league for a striker). People should shift away from just saying Nunez is bad cause he can´t finish and look at the amount of chances he creates for others and himself while drawing a lot of attention away from for example Salah. Like Salah is absolutely loving playing with Nunez with the amount of times they assist/find each other. Nunez runs unlocked a different, really underrated aspect of Salah with his playmaking (Firmino didn´t really offer this as he dropped deeper).

Firmino was a false 9, Darwin looks like being a fake 9... and I mean that as a compliment. Salah and Darwin are a perfect match for each other. Salah's a 9 who plays on the wing, Darwin's a 9 who does his best work from wide areas. A pure number 9 wouldn't work with Salah in the side. it’s easy to say nunez is a flop looking at his appearances and goals alone but if u look at his minutes played and his g/a numbers it’s actually good. He has a goal or assist every 120 mins in the league since he’s joined and if u take away last season i think he’s on a goal or assist every 95 mins this season which basically states he gets a goal or assist every full game he plays it’s just we have a lot of top forwards. Jota also has an incredible goal rate so it’s not fair to keep him on the bench and let nunez play every minute, often he’ll start one and bring the other on with 20/30 mins to go. Also although his numbers are good you’d expect him to kick on at some point, he has one of the highest xg in the league and one of the most missed chances so it’s not like he can get worse than what he is now he can only get better, so with the bottom line set high i expect he’ll be atleast a 15-20 goal a season striker in a year or 2 and that’s fine. It’s like when u sign a 20 year old, if they’re bad for years but they give u 5 top years aged 26-31 then it’s worth it, nunez still has a lot of time to show his worth and he’s doing good now aswell it’s just his ceiling is so high

Nunez has been a flop considering his price tag and the fact this is his second season in the Premier League. The g/a per 90 numbers are skewed by the fact he often comes off bench in dying minutes to cause chaos and come away with an assist or two, or in case of Newcastle away a goal or two. Whenever he starts, it’s a humbling display of a central striker, by all accounts.

As a City fan, I agree. I don't think the flack Nunez gets a lot of the time is warranted, he is always impressive to me when I watch Liverpool. He has some really bad moments but I think he is always productive in some way, just because he's not bagging goals every game and he has some really bad missed chances, people seem to think he's bad.

Imagine having Nunez as a miss and saying he only looks good because of Salah, but having Grealish as a hit when Nunez has more goals, more assists (despite Grealish playing with the worlds best number 9) and Nunez has played less minutes. You honestly couldn't make it up.

Just lacks composure Grealish has also been pretty good, I’d say for around 6/8 months he was pretty bad , but especially since the tail end of last season he’s been a solid 7/10 Minimum every game and more importantly has been doing his job for city perfectly, deffo not a miss either

Nunez is a hit for me, he brings so much threat and unpredictability to Liverpool's attacking play, running defenses ragged and his pressing is excellent. I think he will prove his value in the 2nd half of this season and, barring injury, next season.

You're right about the add ons. But apparently some of those have been hit with him reaching 10 & 60 apps. That means the current fee is around 76 million, so just eclipsing the van dijk price tag. Alisson was 65 I think as well

As a palace fan, the whole thing with Matheus is so depressing. Hes rarely played, has one start this whole season (out of position at LW against everton), and thats just down to poor subs on Roys part in games. He rarely brings him on before the 70-80 min range and the same can be said for David Ozoh rn for us too. We signed matheus to replace zaha, yet we refuse to play him, and the few times he has played, he has played decently. Obviously hes not gonna be carrying us the same way Olise/Eze do currently, but he has shown he has the talent to do it in a top league but rn he just very raw and has to play more to adapt to this league better and improve.

You can easily weave out the casuals by their opinion on Nunez. Definite hit

Nunez has 20 GA this season... A GA every 88 minutes he plays... Isak has 14 GA this season... A GA every 114 minutes he plays. The football illiteracy on show here is palpable!!

It's the double standards because city won the treble. I don't think they needed Grealish to win the treble and while he is a good player, he doesn't add that much to their team- hence why they got doku and already look way more scary with him starting over Grealish. Nunez has completely transformed our attack and defenders hate playing against him. Yes, we'd love for him to start scoring more but we know his quality and what he brings to the team and that's enough for now. His scoring will improve the more he plays and the more the team gets used to him and he gains more composure and confidence. Absolutely love the guy

The manager bought another winger straight away that's honestly a lot scarier to play against for right backs than Grealish and don't take my word for it, pundits and players even say it. Doku starts over him when fit and don't tell me that he was bought to be a back up because that's clearly not the case as you don't spend 50+ plus mill on a back up winger and he has been started over Grealish more often than not when fit. As I said, Grealish is a good player, but to be costing 100 mill and then basically being replaced by a better winger after 2 seasons is a miss for me at that price. If he costed 50 mill he'd be a hit

It is also proper crap because if you took Haaland out city would find it hard and have found it hard. You might say thats because kdb is out too but our creative outlet trent is out too.

Most important have we seen improvement from last year. Definitely. I was tending to the fact that the without salah bull crap from the arsenal fan is pea brain logic. i feel like it’s harsh to say without salahs goals liverpool would be nowhere cus it’s not like the other 4 forwards have played every game, they wouldn’t score as many in his absence but it wouldn’t be drastically less. Salah has played every minute in the league more or less, then the other 4 have played about half the minutes of the season so far so if we double their numbers as we double their game time it’s not bad at all. I think jota and gakpo have 5 goals so that’s 10 doubled, nunez has 5 goals 6 assists which is 22 g/a doubled then diaz has been underperforming scarily but with more consistent game time he could thrive. It’s easy to say “he’s only got 5 goals this season” but if he’s only played half the minutes it’s actually not bad cus if he did play every minute the maths would say 10 goals which is good at the halfway point and only 4 fewer than salah

I just knew when Caicedo when coming they were all going to hate on him 😂 he is fantastic for us! Cleans up well and considering he had an awful start to the season he has massively improved. Our defence is the only thing that lets Chelsea down.

This season he’s placed Disasi RB, Gusto LB, Maatsen was on the bench and had Colwill LB when Cucu and Chilwell were both injured. It’s ridiculous

Grealish isnt at 20+ G/A player.His strengths are his dribbling , passing and ability to take players on and draw a foul. He will probaly get you 5-8 goals a season and the same for assists.
