    What strikes me is how much more active the arms are in this swing than the torso. I feel like the dominant motion is the arms swinging down out and up, and the upper body remaining relatively still or only following the arm motion. It doesn't look that way, of course, because obviously he turns his upper body, but I feel like if you start the downswing by turning the torso before pulling down with the arms, that's what causes the outstide-in slice. And that's what most people do. I think that's the goal of the circle drill - to teach you that the arm-circle is primary, and the body turn secondary.

    Bro that’s 1000% right. Once once I understood that (thanks to this channel) I finally understood the swing. The torso is only good for rotating once the arms lower the club.

    These guys deserve a Nobel Prize for the work they do for average golfers like us. They combine physics/science with common sense explanations and feels....and it’s incredible. I’ve taken lessons from GolfTec and it’s not the same. Others just tell you the numbers/angles but don’t explain the how or why. Every time I am struggling with a portion of my game, I search AMG “anything” and within 1-2 range sessions it clicks. Thank you both for the way you are changing the instruction game!

    Wish I had seen this video before my round this weekend! I was hitting my driver straight for the first few holes and then started slicing and I couldn't fix it. Made for a bad day. I was focused on making sure the club face was square (it was), but didn't realize I was finishing my swing low and to the left. I just went to the range and tried finishing my swing high and to the right and bam, big old draw. Thanks for making it easy!

    Great video. One detail I am not clear on is how to achieve a clubface that is sightly closed to the path. Are you achieving that by aggressively rolling your forearms ("swing the club head past your body", as Shaun says) or are you setting a slightly closed cubface when you take your grip a la Jack Nicklaus?

    All my life I have struggled with a slight OTT movement at the start of my downswing (but never on a practice swing!!!). This results in very unsatisfactory strikes and many many different attempts at compensating for that wrong move. Played off a h'cp of 5 or lower for many years. Now aged 75 I need a draw. Hope this helps.

    Good drills guys. For the older guys, the new drivers vs persimmon, much more difficult to work the ball IMO. The faces are more flat and square, less bulge and roll. With the colored sticks, this is the old Nicklaus (where I first heard it) concept. Line your feet on the line you wish the ball to start Line up your club face to the target Then swing along the foot line. The drag the club head on the ground is a good drill for a lot of faults.

    Thanks guys. In terms of self-correction then. You mentioned snap hooking some of these. How do we sort ourselves out if we start doing this? Is it a path problem, a closed face problem, an arm/hands roll problem?

  • @AthleticMotionGolf

    @AthleticMotionGolf

    Snap hooking is an indication there's a big difference between path and face. If those hooks are starting straightish or left then hooking, look at the face being too closed to the path.

    Check this out, David, if you haven't already: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nH6O1JWcqMnIlKQ.html The key is keeping that lead shoulder low as you lower your arms/hands. Without a doubt, most golfers pop that shoulder up to lower the arms which creates all sorts of issues afterward.

    Hi guys. Quick question. When you align the body to the yellow cane “to the right” and the club face to the blue cane “slightly closed to the body” how are you doing that. Are you twisting the club so it’s closed to the path then re-gripping. Or, are you opening the face to the “target line” then aiming the body further right than where the club face is aiming. I’ve always found that bit confusing. Thanks.

  • @AthleticMotionGolf

    @AthleticMotionGolf

    5 жыл бұрын

    The face can be square to the body line, it just needs to be closed to the swing path. I would start with that first. Then if you need it a little more closed, take your grip after you set the face.👍
