We live up in the Okanogan Highlands cattle country above the snowline and it's a lotta climb n trails. So everything we have is off-road 4x4 and the little village down in the Valley has people driving rigs like this legally no prob. My wife works at the hospital and could drive it to work in marginal weather if the heater is any good??. This video is valuable to me so I'm paying close attention. Thanks for your detailed story. Would like a Mule or Honda but I could but another Toyota truck for the price. Or build a new barn. Haha subbed . Dandahermit. I'm 80 and wife 70 so can't be too tuff to drive.

I have been considering this one @ the big blue. I’m always looking it over. And I’m glad you have made this review because like you said no one has made this type of review.. I have only 5 little acres but it’s good for work around the place. Plus we have Access to a private lake so it’s perfect to drive too. Thanks

Hey Doc, I bought a Axis 500 in February in Deep South Texas and use it at the Ranch with a 40 gal tank sprayer to control Mesquite brush in the field. In August while working it was 105 degrees !! This is a great Work Horse and love it!! Currently I use it for deer hunting and have made some modifications like adding LED head lights and added a winch on the back to load the deer and hogs. I recommend this UTV for ranch work and can have fun as well.

Axis 500 in for warranty after a few month because it wouldn't start. After 3 months they called. Fuel pump fuse! It has blown twice since. Runs great for 2-3 months, then blows. Blue 15A fuse under the hood. Took fine stranded wire and wrapped 2 turns around fuse terminals. It's been running ok for a month now. The gas gage was stuck on one bar for months, but fiddling with tank&fuel pump wiring, it started working. I really like this machine... Even put a big red Tesla decal on the tailgate.

I just bought the Axis 500 on Wednesday 6/5, spent that evening reading the manual cover to cover. Thursday 6/6 after checking all the fluids and filling it up with 91 octane gasoline, took a slow ride under 15 mph understanding first the 25 hr break in period. Way out in the back of the field and stopped to look at some fencing repair, I turned the machine off. After 10 mins I got back in, turned the key and it cranked but wouldn't start. After 5 mins of trying to get it to start, I had to walk the ¼ mile back to the house in 90º Florida heat and sun. Got my truck and some tools and drove back to the machine, and now it starts right up... Now I think this is a totally untrustworthy machine now, a don't want to get stuck, especially out in some trails, so I am going to try to return it tomorrow 6/7, it has just under 2 miles on the odometer. I also noticed that the dump bed gets VERY hot while running, this heat will damage items in the bed, eg coolers, gas cans, animals...

At times my does that and I have to give it a little gas to get it to start. The FACTORY fuel filter had paint chips in it. Replaced filter and issue 98% gone. I just have to reset the computer about every 4 months. No big deal. Just turn key on and off 5 times within 30 seconds. Without starting it. Making sure you hear the fuel pump kick on. After the on-off sequence. Leave off 30 seconds. Then ya should be good to go.

Hey Doc, great video. I have the 500 also and like you I research everything I can before making a purchase. I found several great reviews on here that led me to purchase mine which I've had for almost a year now. Don't know if you know it or not but Hisun has a KZread channel on these showing everything you need to know about them. I live in Tennessee, and we are able to tag them here. In my opinion my Axis performs as well if not better than the top name brands that cost 2 to 3 times as much as mine. I've added a back windshield, LED headlights and a Silent Rider muffler. It looks and runs great and is worth every penny. Just thought I'd share.

Hey Doc! I purchased my Axis 700 back in October. Been putting a few miles on it, and have given it it’s first oil change. My opinion of this machine so far is it is great. We have 250 miles on it, and have gone on a couple of rides with a group of SxS enthusiasts and kept up with their “name brand” rigs just fine. Knock on wood, we have not had any issues so far. I did a pre-check prior to taking it for it’s first spin to ensure all nuts, bolts, and seals were in good shape, as well as checking the fluids prior to each operation. Had a friend who did not pre-check and burnt up some internal components. I too have a KZread channel and plan to post some videos. Information is hard to find, but it is out there. These area Yamaha Rhino clone basically. There are several Rhino video that relate closely to these Axis machines. Look forward to more videos, and I will be posting some soon. When the weather warms up that is 😅

That space under the drivers side seat is big enough to put a second deep cycle battery in it to run your extras. Like led lights, winch, plow, radio, and other accessories. Just make sure you put a battery isolator in there. The isolator is so it charges your main battery first, then your second battery as needed.

I am very impressed so far, however make sure the shifter linkage is adjusted correctly. If not you will swear you damaged the transmission and not go into the correct gear.

I never fidregard thenmanual. When I buy something new n bringit homr i just open the box to get the manual to study in. You can have a machine with features and functions you never even knew bout and see things you shouldn't do that will trash it. Never just rip n strip n go. Have aneughbor eho recently got a nice sniwmobike n folled ut up with gasoline and ran it till it bigged down and wouldn't run. No fuel mix and henfrided a nice engine. And there's stickers about the mix ratios by the fill cap. Duh. And I had told him he needed to let me come up and breife him ona new set of rules. But he just ignored my iffer and Im 80 eits over 65 yesrs experience to share. Shame cause he'll never fix it or care. I'll probably end up with it. My place has sleds parked in. Rows. I 'm listening to you. I made a living fir many years restoring building and repairing motorcycles.😅

You may already know this but never ever tow or haul anything if any weight in high range, and if you are putting around under 15 mph run the machine in low. Both of these things are absolute clutch killers

There is a throttle adjustment on this machine, it shows you in the manual how to make the adjustment for better throttle response, it makes a difference, I’ve had mine for 21/2 years… no issues, I use a k&n air filter for better air flow, this a clone of a rhino 660. You can get parts for it that will work on your utv.

Great question. I thought I made a mistake by buying a piece of equipment like this for my home/ farm. I just wasn't using it, after the initial rush of buying it. However, since the video was made, there has been three situations where this things earned it's keep and a place on the farm. So yes because of it's day to day capabilities and what it can do when I need it to, like pull a pickup truck and trailer stuck in the mud out. I'd buy it again. Plus, where I live, I'm two roads from a paved road that gets plowed in the winter. And it does great in those situations. Last but not least, I've used it at my VFD. So yes.

Both of the rear and one of the front pull. With the lock button pushed. Both rear and both front pull, but steering is kinda limited kinda. Wouldn't want to make tight turns with the lock engaged.

Then secure it to the bottom side of bed and over to the side. I used mechanic's wire. Makes a world of difference. Can be found on almost any construction site, if you don't mind dumpster diving. Now just got to stop the reverb of engine sounds coming thru the center console and off the hardtop.
