2021 Axis 500 grinding noise on deceleration. (One way bearing???)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Well here is another HiSun, Axis, Massismo, Bennche, ect... Clutch issues. THis unit only has about 225 miles on it & is driven with care by an older couple. Just goes to show that no matter who drives one of these are how easy you are on one that still just break due to cheap metals & everything else that is built in china.

    Biggest problem to me is the lack of service dealers. Dealers who sale and work on these products. You did a great job and seem knowledgeable. You maybe be the only one in the country. Most guys I know won’t let these in their shop.

    Yeah I do agree with you. I'm not a fan of working in them but it keeps my shop busy & I also enjoy making videos on them for everyone. Massimo just contacted me the other day asking if I would be a service & warranty center for them. So I told them sure since it will give me access to all the models they sell & it will make great content for everyone.. Then I can really pass specific information on to everyone.

    Great video! Wasn’t expecting to hear my name mentioned in there lol. So on that one way bearing. If you go to Motorcycle Doctors website he has the Tech tip section for the 500/700 Hisun’s. In there they had a bulletin talking about how the one way bearing spring gets stretched or something and the fix is to cut a few coils off and shorted the spring. Not something I would mess with I’d rather just replace the bearing. I gave up on the Chinese built one way bearings. Tried 3 different brands including one that was supposedly heavy duty heat treated etc etc they are all junk in my mind. They either fail right from the get go and make a big CLUNK when you shut the engine off or on decel they make that noise or clunk. I said to heck with it and bought a factory Yamaha OEM Rhino 660 bearing and it works great zero noises. The old bearings were leaving chatter marks on the drum surface so I had to replace the drum all 3 times with the faulty bearings. One thing to add is, I would highly suggest putting slug kits in the wet clutch every time you have one off it’s one of the best upgrades you can do to a Yamaha Rhino or these 500 and 700’s. It lowers the RPM slightly on takeoff and just puts more weight at the end of the shoes for more holding power against the drum so less slipage and you really notice it when you climb steep hills it’s night and day difference oil stays cleaner longer. Just adds to the longevity of the wet clutch. I also take it a step further, and put the shims in between the primary clutch to drop the belt for more low end gearing.

    I have to give credit where it's due. Lol. You I saw the update on Motorcycle Dr. Website & I don't want to mess with the spring either lol. I do have a video on the slugs aslo. Everyone I have recommended that to has absolutely loved the results from adding them. I also have seen those chatter marks on the wet clutch. I will be doing the rino 660 oneway bear for now on myself when I service these units. I definitely appreciate the feed back & hope your comment will help others out.

    @@limitlesspowersportsservic3394 awesome ya I’m as cheap as anyone is with trying to save a buck on aftermarket Amazon/ebay parts but that one way bearing isn’t one area I’ll skimp any more. So far my amazon (Vevor) wet clutch and drum are holding up but more long term testing is needed. I think the big thing is to soak the wet clutch for at least 8-12 hrs before install.

    That's odd, mine makes that same sound, I've completely rebuilt the engine including the one way and I decided after riding it over a week camping trip that I would service everything on it and greased all the rollers and it started doing that, hmmm thanks for the heads up on the updated clutch I haven't seen them like that yet. Glad to see someone giving info out on the Chinese sxs when I first got my Massimo of course it developed problems, I got a service manual for it and boy it was very vague on everything so it's plan b , which is tear into it and figure it out for yourself, and yeah I love the wiring from the machine to the book it was like watching the pirate movie with Captain Jack where they say the pirate code is more like guidelines 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I am considering slugging the wet clutch and using Dr Pulley sliders instead of the round weights. Do you have an opinion on the Dr.Pulley sliders ?? Thanks for all the videos !!

    I appreciate you making these videos and being very thorough on your explanations and details. I do have 1 question. I'd like to add weight to the clutch to make it engage sooner. I own a Massimo 500 2018 model. What weights would you suggest adding and do you have a company you prefer getting accessories like that through?

  • @limitlesspowersportsservic3394

    @limitlesspowersportsservic3394

    I would add sluggs to the wet clutch. That will held with faster & better engagement. It will also help with slipping. I don't have a specific company are size of weights to use. That is more of a buy some, install them. Take it for a drive & see how you like it. Then go up are down in weight if your looking for a little quicker are slower engagement

    You are great. I can't thank you enough for posting this stuff. I'm a TOTAL novice when it comes to mechanical stuff. I'm wanting (needing) to change the fuel filter on this unit. I know this is a total dumb question but I'm still going to ask. Is it as simple as disconnecting the clamps on both sides or do I need to do the stuff you would do on cars like pull the fuse and let it stall out to empty the lines / pressure? I'm not finding any videos for Axis 500 fuel filter replacement.

  • @limitlesspowersportsservic3394

    @limitlesspowersportsservic3394

    You just loosen the clamps & take the fuel filter out. You might leak just a little bit of gas but there isn't any pressure behind it with the key off.

    I've had to replace that same bearing on several machines. However, by the time that got to me, the other parts were damaged, and the machines would rev high before any movement. Just a design flaw or bad quality parts.

  • @limitlesspowersportsservic3394

    @limitlesspowersportsservic3394

    Ай бұрын

    I would say a little bit of both. If they would use the same design that is in the V twin 800 & 1000cc would of been better but that would include a separate transmission. With them trying to keep everything in side one case I guess this is the best theu could come up with. But if theu would just make high quality parts I think that would definitely help. A lot of the yamaha 660 parts do interchange but I also would say sometimes the failure is from operator error & neglect on services.

    Ok, I have a Massimo 700. Doesn't wanna shift when it's running. Shut it of shifts no problem. I can sometimes get it to shift running by moving shifter beck and forth real fast then it will release. I'm thinking could clutches be dirty and not releasing.

    Yeah it definitely sounds like a clutch issue it could be a wet clutch issue you need to check on also. But it's definitely a clutch issue you need to watch a few of my videos and I talked about how to check your clutches clean your clutches what to look for why they won't shift and when you replace stuff how it should operate properly

    A cvt doesn't give engine braking at idle or off cause the belt hangs loose on the primaty clutch when assembled corectly so second one is to provide decelloration drag?

  • @limitlesspowersportsservic3394

    @limitlesspowersportsservic3394

    3 ай бұрын

    Correct when your at idle. But when you let off the gas the primary clutch doesn't just magically open all the way back up & the secondary clutch doesn't just close back up. It's takes time for the clutches to slow down & the centrifugal force to be let back off the clutches. Once you get back down to a certain rpm range then the belt will hang loose. All of that can also change when you change the weights, springs & helix on the clutches. Also if you have slugs in your wet clutch ect..

    Hey Tim, here is a link to the oneway bearing on Amazon. But before you order I would pull it apart first & make sure that the spot the oneway bearing sits on the wet clutch is still smooth & that the wet clutch drum is smooth where the bearing touches. That way if you need the whole set you can order it all at once. Here is the link for the oneay bearing amzn.to/4aWwJ1V Here is a link for the whole wet clutch kit. amzn.to/3vFSSBx

    Yeah that's a dry clutch problem, you can over grease them and they'll make the same sound , and when the grease warms up it will quit , mine was quiet and I took the clutch apart and greased it , and yeah I put prolly too much in , and it makes that same sound till the grease warms up then is quiet until it cools off..... And yeah where is the screws, and cover for that clutch or did you just not show them or were they missing? Just curious

    Mine has 13 miles and makes a "grinding sound" when in High at approx. 20-30 MPH or whining sound on the passenger side. Shift bar was way out of adjustment and when I would attempt to put the vehicle Low it would kick back into High. I think I have the shifting problem.

  • @limitlesspowersportsservic3394

    You need to adjust the shift linkage in the neutral position. Then make sure it shifts smoothly into all gears & then make sure the lights on the dash light up according to the gear your in. That's a very common problem.
