Фильм және анимация

FTA Industry Partner Jeremy Tye interviews Jack Leuba of Quantified Performance who is also Director of Sales for Knights Armament. They talk about the history of the SR-25 platform and look at some of the various versions, changes and improvements that have occurred over the years.
This video was recorded after a long day of shooting in the mountains of Colorado on the spur of the moment so please forgive the lack of production value. We feel the info it contains has enough value to overcome the production short comings. Thanks for watching.

I had the privilege of being trained and led into combat as a boot infantryman by SSgt Leuba in 2010-11. He was a real hardass and perfectionist during our workup training exercises. He always expected and demanded perfection of us. He was never satisfied. He had stern criticisms and constantly pushed us to be better after every exercise, even though our platoon's performance always smoked the other two platoons in our company. Once we were in-country though, he did nothing but hype us up before and after every patrol, telling us how much ass we kicked, and how proud he was of our performance. I firmly believe that it was due to his leadership, and a good bit of luck, that we made it through that extremely intense deployment without taking a single KIA. Jack is the real deal. He brought us ALL home.

Sounds like the very long suppressor for the original match model with the large threads in front of the gas block. I wonder if there are even that many original match SR25s in people's hands? I saw two at gun shows back in the day. Then the match lost all the threads forward of that lock nut and very quickly lost even that and just had a pinned gas block.

The video title is a bit misleading. It did convey some of the history, but only of the last 10-15 years maybe. It would have been nice to have heard about the original match and it's changes in the mid 90's. How many of each change to the gas block area were sold on the retail market? Was the removal of the threads near the gas block a result of the '94 law or to just be cheaper/quicker to make? Or were those changes just a part of the origins of the lightweight match? Then it's evolution into the Mk 11 mod 0. I've seen the laser engraving on those rifles in different colors. What significance, if any, does the coloration difference indicate? How many were sold on the retail market? A video on the markings changes from the original match seen in Gene's hands to the current production would be interesting. From milled to laser marked. From Vero Beach to Titusville marked. When did the serial numbers go from just numbers to k prefixed or km prefixed? Next, the history and changes to the SR25k. I thought originally that they came with the fiberglass tube handguard and were 'sold out' as soon as they were announced. Then about 2002, I forget exactly, some came to market with the first type of aluminum free float railed handguard. I know there were "only 100" but the serial numbers jump all over the place in no perceivable order. They were the first and only model for several years with a collapsible stock and had a short plastic buffer with dual springs. What changes/evolution has occurred with the buffers for the newer collapsible stocked models? Such as the ones shown in this video. I'm sure others have a myriad of questions about other models and their configuration specifics so maybe a giant FAQ video?

@@nickjohnson710 I watched that a few days after. Larry can only say so much about what his unit used/tested at that time. Operational security and all that. It did give a clue as to why the K model showed up when it did and why they didn't come with test targets. Doesn't sound like they would hold under an inch like the longer barreled models. I tried to pose questions dealing with rifles that were sold on the retail market. Info on them shouldn't be classified. There is so much misinformation/disinformation when it comes to facts and details about knight's products. All that uncertainty leaves people vulnerable to scams or clones claimed to be originals, unverifiable production numbers or released numbers, etc. I don't think I'm asking the impossible. The enthusiasts on forums I've seen are quite driven to acquire the rare products or make a clone of their dream rifle. Just looking at photos online gave me questions about coloration differences in laser markings, engraved markings, paint filled markings, serial numbers with no letter prefix or 1 to 3 letter prefixes. An entire book could probably be written on all the SR25 and SR15 models, variants and the evolutions of the designs and components.

For those who love these but would rather get something cheaper. Get a Diamondback DB10. They use the same SR25 style receivers, they make their own barrels and they are excellent for the price. I bought their basic 16" DB10 for $750 several years ago, and it's just stupid accurate, sub MOA consistently-- to 1 MOA. I've seen that same rifle sell on gbroker for $1300 in 2020- so they aren't quite as cheap anymore now that more people know how well they shoot. They have more of a basic AR10 setup, vs the KAC's proprietary gas system and ambi receivers, and I'm fairly sure they don't have chrome lined barrels (at least not the cheapest one that I have)-- but I think they are nitride at least- , it will have it listed on their site. -- So I'm not really comparing the two--- but I do believe that the receivers are completely compatible. So you could swap uppers with an SR25 and vise versa; so it's a good rifle to throw in the collection if you already own SR25's, just for the compatibility. SR25's are so good, that even a cheaper clone/ copy such as a DB10-- is still an excellent rifle.

@@azamat_bezhanov Idk what that is... but I do know that they are first a CNC company.. and make parts for these badazz speed boats and other stuff... And they make their own barrels. They've always had good accuracy. The one thing people sh^t on DB for is when they first launched this little cheap pistol called the db9.... A lot of people bought it and it had issues.. But since then, the guy fired almost everyone and started over and then got into rifles.. (and then AR10's too).... And they do 100x better QC now because they have to.. Because they got such a bad name when they started. I just know that their AR10's (the DB10).. is a great rifle, if you like shooting 308 or 6.5creed.. I have 3 of them.... Thier more accurate setups will have the Stainless steel barrels.. They are sub MOA for the first few thousand rounds at least.. But SS won't last as long as a CHF chrome lined barrel.. so: there is a trade off in everything. But they are relatively dirt cheap. You can get a whole new upper for five hundred. or just a new barrel for around a hundred. ... The key is-- buy the stripped receiver and get all the parts ... and the upper-- and put it together yourself. If you buy them as a complete rifle-- they still cost from sixteen hundred to twenty-two hundred, just like other brands. But you can build it yourself for under eight hundred.. Pretty crazy discount.. and the uppers come already fully assembled

Even something as simple as the dimples-- doesn't take much longer, and it's just a simple click of a different option on the CNC machine--- but that's not the point. It's more machine time; and when you do that to all of them it adds up to needing several more tooling changes from all the extra milling-- and tooling isn't cheap. It also takes away your production time and limits your total output capacity/ so now you're being restricted on how many barrels you can make per day because of all the extra milling time; so in order to be able to make them faster, you now have to buy another million dollar CNC machine........... Or you can just do away with the dimples and cut back on all those things and most people are not even going to notice the 1/4 lb heavier barrel. Small changes like that make sense, and don't bother me at all. But I get that some people want every little detail to be clone correct. If you really want to keep your dimple barrel--- just buy a new barrel and put it in your rifle--- and hang that dimple barrel on your wall and you'll always have it. lol
