Those initial Archaeotech scavengers and brokers of tech bazaars certainly could've used some Goliath genetics, Alphas, with which to combat being afflicted with poisoning from the damaged STC. Perhaps in M37, Davos was sent back to the time that he was seeking to revert the Van Saar to, or else'when', somehow happening to his own self. Maybe he got shot off to Skaro, being Davos. Or, he simply died or was finally murdered. The Hellraiser-/Blood: One Unit Whole-like soundtrack along with that wicked astronomical image shown at 2:00 really affirm and reinforce the identity and atmosphere of Necromunda as a subject. Cheers to that, Narrator. There are several terms in here that I'm not yet familiar with though intrigue me further, such as a “Two-Faced War” and being reminded of Ironkin though Iron Lords - which would probably be insulting to those of the Votann. I have no favourite House on Necromunda, not yet knowing enough about they or this setting in general...yet, this content has furthered my appreciation, for Van Saar or any other faction. I do look forward to the day that the Mechanicum and this House finally come to confrontations. The idea of Golden/Dark Age survivors always interests me in 40K. Actually I'd be more interested in more stories or scaps of information about that era than I am about the current narrative.

What you want to bet these guys have a void ship or 2 hidden and are looking for new hiding places for when the inevitable happens? The Logicians would roll out the red carpet and treat them like royalty if they ever met.

my friends I would roleplay van saar as mercenaries an weapons dealers one time We start a war with each Over who was the better maker Oh boy that got out hand because we started making new and bizarre weaponry to outclass each other only to use them on each other one such weird weapon was a gun that shot out like acid and venom needles that Got in the blood flow poisoning and melting the flesh from within Oh boy

Amazing how far you can get with a little archaeotech and a lot of secrets and patience.

Personally, I’m a big fan of the theory that the Van Saar STC is actually the iron head squats missing ancestor core. If that were true it would explain why it’s slowly killing them, even if they were skilled enough to get the data they need for their tech out.

Another piece of evidence that could support that is because the Van Saar don't input their memories into the STC core when they die, they don't clog up the memory banks of the thing like what usually happens to ancestor cores. This means that the core has far more space to actually operate properly and in a sensible timeframe, which helps the Van Saars to invent more advanced and effective tech.

So what would happen to Necromunda if it was found out that they were hoarding a full blown STC? Would they be elevated or annihilated? How would it affect the wider Imperium & Mechanicus?

I mean, lorewise the mechanicus would come in hot if they got their hands on a single piece of non-standard technology, this house just has plot armor. If Mars figures out necromunda has an actual STC, they are coming with everything and damn anyone who would get in their way.

Cawl would probably swamp it in 'tourists' packed to the gills with hacking equipment and keep spamming their servers till the whole planet was a sponge secretly sucking the knowledge out of Van Saar... like he does to the rest of the Imperium. In fact if he's done it already it would explain quite a bit :D This also nicely isolates Mars from the STC corruption.
