    unfortunately a lot of history is also written by the victor, which isn't so bad for older history because we've learned to dig deep enough to find the truth, but when it comes to history of nations that are powerful today its nearly impossible to spread the real truth of the history of their time, like if i wanted to talk about the true history of the death of the meso-american civilizations then youtube would immediately censor me. and youtube is supposed to be an american company, and america is supposed to be all about freedom of speech and anti-censorship, but they only say that until its inconvenient for them, in reality america's information system is nearly as bad as the great firewall of china.

    It only really covers the history of half the world, too: It only barely touches on the history of civilization in the Americas, even though Latin America had thousands of years of history that he could have gone into in detail, but didn't.

  • @Wired4Life2

    @Wired4Life2

    Sure, but can't one say that most of the action was happening in Europe, the Middle East, India, and China/Korea/Japan? The Native Americans were arguably just on either side of reaching *S O C I E T Y* (depending on the tribe/civilization) when the Europeans arrived and conquered them.

  • @MajoraZ

    @MajoraZ

    5 жыл бұрын

    +BlueFox94: That's only true for some parts of the Americas: groups in Mexico/Guatamala Belize (IE, Mesoamerica), and Peru/Ecuador/Bolivia (IE the Andes) had complex, state level societies with urban cities, actual goverments, organized armies, etc for thousands of years prior to contact with europeans: It's not as if the Aztec and Inca were the first actual civilizations in those regions, they were the latest among hundreds: Even around 1000 years before the Aztec empire was a thing, you had cities with populations in the high tens of thousands to into the 100k to 200k range., which is comparable to large cities from ancient greece or the roman empire. You have cities going back as far as 1400BC in Mexico, 3000 years before the Aztecs were a thing. So, for what's now the United States, Brazil, etc, sure, there's not much stuff to go over, but there's absolutely as much wars, diplomacy, trade, etc going on in Mesoamerica and the Andes as what was happening in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, India, etc. Granted, historical records are a lot harder to come by (thank the spanish for burning them all), but given that the video is only giving 1-2 sentence long quips about each event, that's not that big a deal, it's still entirely doable: I made a 60,000 character summation of Mesoamerican history once thatt covered all 3000 years of it, and I'm just some guy interested in it as a hobby, so if I could do it, so could he.

    I can't remember who said it, but there was a comedian who commented that, in Japan, their movies show monsters like Godzilla who were created from small animals being exposed to radiation. In the US movies, on the other hand, people being exposed to radiation gives them super powers. Hmmm...why would these two countries have radically different views on the effects of radiation? Let's think real hard about that one.

    MisterSureShot Lenny Lynch was talking about how late we were to the idea that slavery and racism is wrong. It was only 153 years ago that slaves were freed, and damn, racism was so bad 54 years ago that we had to make a law to say "Stop it". And even with it being against the law to be racist in jobs, housing, and business, it's still happening - 'cause criminals gotta be criminal and all. Lenny's just sayin' it wasn't too long ago in the grand scheme of the world - not that we're the only ones to have legal slavery.

    In America's defense, they haven't really been the last with both slavery and racism. Sadly both are still widespread where some places are worse than others.

    What I think is amazing about history is just how much we don’t know. Billions of humans have existed, and fir every Caesar there are hundreds of millions of John Doe’s no one knows anything about. For everyone in history we learn about there are so many we don’t even know existed.

    I love that all the uncomfortable shit isn’t sugar coated. It’s stated as a blunt, honest fact...like the rape of Nanking. We can’t make everything all nice and flowery just because it makes us uncomfortable.
