Tacoma's fire department is the first one in the state to have a fully staffed crew on salary. These tireless heroes protect our city and are part of a rich legacy of fire fighters. There are over 13 historic structures in the city that have served as fire stations and engine houses. Today these buildings serve a variety of uses including a few that still function as active fire stations.
