Today we will be chatting about popular beauty product that got their start in the 90s! A lot of beauty staples of today have built their legacies in the 90s. I was quite shocked to see which of these products have been around THAT long! Enjoy!

Thank you for putting respect on Mac’s name! So many of these booty gurus do not understand the cultural shift that Mac brought to the beauty world! Especially for us women of color!! Back when drugstore brands carried 7 shades of white, Mac was out here providing for us brown girls 🤎🤎

Estee Lauder used to keep customers at her beauty counter by having them sample a hand cream. She would massage it into their hands. Then hold one hand with hers while showing her other products. GENIUS.
PLEASE KEEP THIS GOING!!! Learned a lot and the look is giving😍😍😍

I was hired at an Urban Decay counter for Macy's & when I tell you on KZread 2009 the only makeup tutorial for Urban Decay was a purple smokey eye, best believe I gave everyone that walked by a purple smokey eye 😂

Maybelline Great Lash is from 1971?! No wonder my Mom refuses to try another mascara! It launched when she was 11. She’s never felt the need to try another. That mascara was my childhood!

This ginger vibe is such a look. You’re always switching it up and you look phenomenal. The skin is the crème de la crème 😻
I feel like a 1950s version of this vid would be FIRE! Revlon popped off then, marilyn monroe loved revlon
I’m a person who absolutely looooves everything about makeup. Buying it, applying it, even watching other ppl apply it ( You Tube tutorials). But I gotta say, I’m a little shocked by how little I knew about my favorite obsession! And I was a teenager in the 90s, 40 years old now! 🙈 You really put the girls on with this one! Thanks so much for sharing sis, I learned so much! Appreciate you!😘💕

Also yes, please do a history of black makeup. I saw someone mention the Fashion Fair resurgence and my memories in the 90s are FILLED with literally morphing into my moms shadow when she got out her pink bag full of that good ol’ gold lable “FF” and got to work. I would run my fingers through the brushes she was not I using. I would open/close the compacts just to here the snap. Such good memories.
I still have an obsession with Revlon wet/dry liner !!!!! And TONS of others but Revlon , fashion fair, Dermablend( L’Oréal ) Lafemme are among my absolute must haves since the 90’s

My little sister had 90s day at school today, and I instantly felt like I’m getting old! Crazy thing is the 90s look is in right now anyways. I don’t remember the makeup back then tho, so this is a cool video idea.

I was in my teens and 20s so my makeup coming of age was in the 90s! I wore it everyday.
That hair color is EVERYTHING!!!
Can I just say that in the mid 90s I was a full time college student and I worked at Urban Outfitters, Sephora and MAC. They were all in a row in DC and yes, sometimes I just walked in and clocked in and worked at all of them… the 90s HUSTLE!
Auntie the Ginger hair and the green shadow??!! Its GIVINGGGGG! You look so gorgeous 😍❤️
That color hair was in EVERY BLACK HAIR MAGAZINE. Dark n Lovely color. I remember wanted to achieve it. I came from that era. I soooo miss the old blackberry M.A.C and the whole Cover Girl QUEEN Collection from Queen Latifah. Black Opal, Black Radiance. I still have most of my old magazine
I watched this video with my 3 month old baby girl and she could not look away or stop smiling 😂 part of me thinks that she thought you were really there and talking to her. It was adorable 😂 Loved the video Jackie! 😄
Stopped watching ALL beauty KZreadrs for nearly two years now but remained subbed and damn I missed you, Jackie sooo much. Ur energy will never be matched, Im still rooting for you to become a huge influence in the beauty industry but glad to see you're still growing and glowing,
1:40 “or [may not be] 100% historically accurate” this reminding me of those vids the Welsh Twins make where they are absolutely 100% historically accurate. those vids are hilarious😭
I was contemplating a nap, but I guess I'll stay up a lil longer. Excited for the hair. Excited for the topic.

I love this series and having been a product of the 80s but raised in the 90s, I forgot about a lot of us and the 90s is when I was discovering a lot of make up so it was fun to relive, love this!
This takes me baaaaaaack omg the shadow insurance/primer potion comment is so true lolol I remember getting into makeup through r/makeupaddiction and going out and buying that primer potion, Naked3 and theBalm highlighter
A few fun celeb facts about MAC lip cosmetics in the nineties: Madonna popularized Russian Red matte lipstick with her Blonde Ambition tour, Aaliyah popularized clear Lipglass by praising it in interviews and rapper Foxxy Brown popularized the almost black lipstick color called Cyber.
Love this style of video. Would love to see more with vintage black Hollywood
When I think 90s makeup there's two categories: Estee Lauder, Clinique, and Mac or L'Oreal, Maybelline, and Almay

A bottle of angel broke in my mother’s room when i was like 10. It lasted a whole two months….i still can’t stand the smell to this day 😅😅😅😅😅. But it’s certainly iconic for her generation. She’s 62 now 😊😊😊

I LITERALLY was looking for a makeup brand history video like this for AGES Mama are you psychic?? I LOVE THIS. You're a literal godsend Jackie I needed the google certificate thing more than ever now tysm for always doing sponsorships that hold validity and can change lives YOU'RE A LEGEND.
Love this video! I would totally love to see more of this type of content from you! Also, absolutely loving the hair!
Scent and fragrance is such a personal choice, it says a lot about society back then that women weren't allowed to buy their own, that a man chose how you smelt! Like dogs pissing on lampposts to mark their turf! It makes me a different kind of angry when I think of it 😤
@dwysan

@Imani Jackson if you both like it then great, but I'm not going to wear something I wouldn't choose to "draw" any man to me, not even my husband, that's the bit that's off. The idea that women were shamed for wanting to choose and buy their own is wrong, that they had to ask their husband to buy it. It would be like your husband choosing your hairstyle or having to be bald.
This was so interesting, thank you! I love this hair, it complements your complexion so well 😍🔥
This was way more interesting than I expected. Love it!
Yes! So excited for this video! Burning my Fine Pine candle right now.🔥❤️ Love you Jackie!

When I'd wear makeup in the 90s (middle school, 1998) my aunt who was in high-school would do my makeup for fun and practice. She would do a black CoverGirl eyeliner in my waterline (after burning it to make it creamy!) with Maybelline Great Lash mascara, CoverGirl pressed powder, and a clear lipgloss. The photos make me giggle. Pale pale skin and eyes that looked smaller LOL.
thank u so much for the words of inspiration of how its never too late to find yourself you're an angel. I'd like this video 55 times if I could.
