I'm friends with a few of the remnants of one of the Boston families. I've been begging one of them to start a podcast or KZread channel because he tells the best stories with such charisma and energy... I still laugh out loud just thinking about them.

What determines whether a mob outside of NYC or NYS composed of ITalians is recognized as part of the American Cosa Nostra? In other words at what point does a family like those in Boston or Providence become a recognized Cosa Nostra family.Especially if its composed of guys from other parts of Italy and not really initially associated with other recognized Cosa Nostra familes

Michael - Great video. One of my forebears (my grandfather’s generation) was a Jewish mobster, who started out in Boston, went to Havana, and then returned when Castro took power. Our family hails from South Boston (only a handful of Jews in Southie) and I knew a few members of the Winter Hill gang. Years later, I got to know a woman, who grew up on the same street as one of the Patriaca family and she said that when she went to concerts with one of the family’s daughters (her classmate), they were always chaperoned by two YUGE “enforcers.” Sadly, I will miss your upcoming show in Providence, but I hope to see you live, while you are on tour. I have some great stories that have been passed down from my dad. Of course, I don’t know how much is true and how much is embellishment, but it gives a view to a world that no longer exists.

This was a good video. I believe that we touchdown on important topics. I agree with Michael Franzese. The word "Mafia" is a broad topic. Every race and culture has a "Mafia". The Mafia is all over the world. Each race and culture call the word "Mafia" different. For example; Hispanics call it Cartels. Asian's call it Traids, Tongs, SnakeHeads, and Yakuza's. Italian's call it La Cosa Nostra, Camorra, Ndrangheta, Società Foggiana, Sacra Corona Unita, Black Hand, and Stidda. The West Indian's call it Posse. British call it Firms. Eastern European's call it Bratva. The list goes on. It's still a serect society. Same thing different names. This goes out all over the world. Crime is everywhere. I alway's say " gangsters is all over the world". It doesn’t matter where you from, people just switch up the game.

It's always nice to hear other's perspective besides just what I've been told by family members. Because we all know as the years go by the same stories you've heard a 100 times have a tendency to change over the years when people reflect on them. You shouldn't have to explain yourself to anyone Michael most of us know that you are genuine you are always going to get a few people who will try to pull you down but that is just because of them being jealous due to how successful you and Sammy have now become on social media platforms the last few years. Unfortunately that's the way it will always be. They dont like the fact that someone with a criminal past can turn their life around and become a big position influence on people. Personally love both of your content and some of the things you have said before have really helped me in life as I had a rough upbringing and got into a criminal lifestyle when I was younger and at one point came close to taking my own life due to addiction and depression but got through it. You dont realise how much of a positive impact you have had on my life and probably alot of others these last few years and I will be forever grateful for that so thanks and god bless you and your family. Please just ignore the haters and their jealousy

In Montreal we had the Rizzuto family...quite powerful and respected...but things worsened around 2013-2014 for them. Now it is said (according to police officers expert on organized crime) that its an alliance between leading figures from Hell's Angels, many mafia cells/families and heads of street gangs who runs the "show" in Montreal. Outside Montreal(Quebec) HA are kings and not really challenged.

It's the same in all Canadian cities, wars aren't as common as the US as weapons are harder to obtain. LEO's aren't as afraid of upholding justice. All organized criminals work together in the end if they can make money. However, in today's society. Engaging in criminal rackets is not as lucrative as before. It's wiser to engage in legal ventures. You will always have a guilty conscience for being a force that is destructive towards society. The consequence is developing mental disorders that make you unstable and you cannot fit into society. Sure there's probably fast money to make on vices of the public. But in the end, you will never consider yourself the same status as someone who generated the same amount from a legal career. The happiness you get from yours will never match theirs. They have nothing to worry about and can feel good about their success without delusion. Besides, if you compare Canada to another country where there are more successful criminals, you will recognize you are part of the problem who will ruin the country. Mexico is a example of this, you wouldn't want to live there would you?

Providence would still be a great city if it didn't go progressive woke ...

@@louporreca3795 Life is much more complex than a simple issue such as going woke. I despise woke, but the decline of Providence as an Italian American city occured before "woke" became an issue. The first major problem was the illegal actions of the FBI against the Italian-American community in RI, including the illegal killings of Italian-Americans, for which one FBI agent went to jail. The next issue was the fact that the Charles Street Italian district experienced a flight of young Italian-Americans to places out of state. Finally, several low cost housing units were either built in the area or buildings were converted to low cost housing which brought a general decline to the Charles Street area.

My late brother’s son is half Italian, and his family is from Providence, my handsome little nephew. Anyhow,‘this would be good to see so maybe one day I can tell him about his history. Luckily his mother is protective and has shielded him from embracing that life. Her family, even her dad were mafia in Providence.
