Ah Cervantes, when I was a kid I was convinced Cervantes was real and he was an ancestor since my last name is de Leon. XD Same with Ivy when I learned he's her real father. Ah... young confused child me.

My guess the reason why Cervantes ended up being young is because he might not have even really aged. Usually those who have been infected by Soul Edge to a certain point or have shards embedded in them stop aging. Maxi is a prime example. He had stopped aging once he got the soul edge shard put into him before the events of Soul Calibur 2.

Cervantes has always been one of my favorite characters in the game he's even in my top 10 favorite soulcalibur characters

*Yay, Cervantes another of my central mains, my favorite looks for him is 3 and 4 and now 6, can't wait for his trailer this week.* Also are planning doing a video Inferno in the future, but im more hyped for Algol.

I feel it's unpopular opinion, but I really like Algol. He is definitely one of my favorite characters in the Soulcalibur franchise. So I would love to see a video on him. Also hoping he is at least DLC for Soulcalibur 6.

The only characters you haven't done yet are Lizardman, Algol, Lee Long, Hwang, Yung Song, Rock, Patrokolos, Pirre, Z.W.E.I, Viola, Hilde, Olcadan, Charade, Necroid, Xiba, Xanglee, Natsu, Inferno, Abyss but I don't know if he's a separate character and Elyuisum. Now personally I suggest Lizardman and Algol but mainly Algol because I want to know his history. As always thanks HBTW.

My favorite Soul Calibur character.When I first realized he had an extremely powerful pistol in his sword and could teleport,channel lightning,fly,and telekinesis...it was over.

So you’re just not gonna mention at all how Ivy came about...? Who was his girlfriend/wife? What happened to her? When does this fit into the timeframe of him pursing souledge? Why did he abandon her? etc. I’ve always wanted to know more about their relationship and history because as much lore I know of this series I’ve never heard much about them just the he’s her dad.

Turns out that Ivy's mother was the daughter of the owner of the Black tail inn, who Cervantes raped to have a spare vessel for soul edge :(

Lol it's cool but weird when your least name is a character

Soulblade Cervantes de leon was the most scariest character in fighting game history. He always would raise your heartbeat, especially if you was good enough... or dare I say lucky enough to beat him once if you fought on 2 rounds

I like him too, especially in Sc1. He was very strong and i like his bison, styracoosaurus skull head. I still like him even in 3 and 4 but he was toned down a lot, Namco put all it's efforts on Astaroth instead of him.

Interesting video, though I'm curious what the source for his pre-pirate backstory and his father's name being Philip de Léon is. I haven't been able to find it in any of his in-game profiles beyond his _Soulcalibur II_ profile mentioning that his unnamed father was killed in battle. Is it in a Japan-exclusive artbook?

In Cervantes' Edge Master mode from the original Soul Blade, the intro segment mentions how his father, Philip de Leon, was a Spanish privateer who was killed when he attacked an English warship in disguise, which devastated the young Cervantes enough that he decided to become a pirate rather than a Spanish sailor. I think it's the only time it comes up, but is still considered canon. I believe the hat Cervantes always wears is his father's, too.

Nice. He is far more detailed then I remember. Whenever he annoyed me, I called him "Sir Panties". I'm really big on the history of the female characters (Seong Mi-na, Taki, Ivy) as well as Kilik ad Maxi. I often thought , through the ending videos in SC3, that Kilik and Maxi have a thing for each other, and Xianghua keeps stepping in between because she thinks she's the one for one of them. Would love to hear your thoughts. Did SC5 do anything for the plot or is it missable?

Cervantes became somewhat of a wasted character over the years. I would have liked for him to get Soul Edge back at some point, or for him to have a fight against Nightmare as revenge for taking the sword. I would have picked him over Raphael as the wielder of Soul Edge in SC5.

Yeah he raped ivy's mom for soul edge just in case he wasn't worthy of wielding it so his daughter (ivy) maybe could. Ivy's mom was the merchant on the ship he raided.
