My FACE when I realized how long this is. Thank you so much, Cy!!!
Thank you so much for this! Just one thing- many historians think Thutmose III actually wasn't the one who erased the memories of Hatsepshut, rather it was his son Amenhotep II. Hatshepsut had given Thutmose III command of her armies, which probably wouldn't be if Thutmose was resentful. Moreover, dating shows Hatshepsut's monuments were not desecrated at least 25 years after her death, which gives credibility to this theory. Since Amenhotep II was the son of a lesser wife he needed to increase his legitimacy, ehich might be the reason as desecrating her temples might serve to deny succession rights to closer relatives who might have a better claim on the throne than Amenhotep II.

Haha yeah I told you it was gonna be a while until the next one. One done, many more to go!
fantastic work! 1:00:00 this was a very common theme in imperial China too (at least in C-dramas) if a particularly worthy prince, especially one who might be the heir, didn't have a high-status mother, he was removed from his real mom's household, and legally adopted by the Empress 1:21:00 his temple was definitely beyond huge, but it was also kind of foolish in hindsight. It was built much closer to the floodplain, so within a century, flooding and earthquakes brought the whole thing down until only the Colossi were left.
This is the best content you make man. 2+ hours of high quality history....unmatched and INSANE
This episode was truely EPIC! Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you for such a clear and well presented overview of this complex period. I have always regarded Amenhotep ii as a somewhat overlooked monarch and your outlining of his achievements here shows how important he really was in securing Egypt's stability and wealth over the second part of the Dynasty. If I had to nit-pick, I might say that perhaps you should have mentioned Yuya as his family played an important role but there's only so much you can cover without making the thing too long. I look forward to the next episode.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful! Yeah he is very controversial... some think of him as this revolutionary, almost saint like person who gave up the world to live life as a recluse in Akhetaten, others as an extreme megalomaniac. In my opinion, the ultimate test of a leader is how their people fare overall under them. In that regard, though a very interesting and complex figure, I don't rate Akhenaten very high on my list of great leaders. Just my opinion though. Thanks for watching and more to come!

After this is over, it might be a good idea to do a series on the dynasties of Iran. After alll, you already kind of started it with your videos on the Medes and the Achaemenids. Good morning everyone
This whole chronological list is amazing and thank you for putting it together. I wonder if the sibling marriages starting mostly with Aahmose might be because they were a small royal family with a dwindling number of non-Hyksos influenced surroundings. They saw their family as pure and wanted to keep it that way. I think if sibling connections were because of the Gods it would have been more pervasive throughout the entire history (as those gods were ubiquitous).
What is the plan - doing 2 hour videos for every of the three dynasties of the New Kingdom? Not complaining at all, I'll listen and four-hour ones with pleasure.

Hi! I guess it depends on how much info is out there. There's a lot on the New Kingdom relative to other dynasties... some of the future videos after the DXX will be much shorter, but as we get closer to the Ptolemaic Dynasty, there will definitely be some longer ones, maybe not as long as this, but about 45 min to an hour.
