Imagine how difficult it was making these with correct timings back in the day. Doing this on something round is just insane with all the different diameters.

I assume its about as difficult as writing music on a piano sheet, so not all that difficult when you know what you are doing, if I remember they have a machine that precuts these from a master slide that you did beforehand.

@@SMGJohn way way more difficult than writing music on paper. On paper you literally just paste out notes, here you have math that changes depending on each individual note, plus you have to deal with factors like the size of the disk, the individual metal notes, and things like the fact that the outside is spinning way faster than the inside.

Ich schon seit 20jahren Spieluhren sind die einfache Version das polyphon und orchestrion davor also elektrisches klavier bzw leierkasten mich fasziniert mich seit ich 15jahre alt war❤😊😊❤

I read in a book on antique music boxes, particularly on the Polyphon, that the smaller disk playing machines many time had a better sound that the enormous size boxes with double combs. I think this Polyphon proves it!

Vor einigen Jahren habe ich für meine Tochter ein ähnliches Polyphon gekauft, aber es erfordert eine Restaurierung der Mechanik, den Austausch mehrerer Getriebewellen und den Einbau des Aufzugsmechanismus, und deshalb suche ich einen Meister, der mein Polyphon restaurieren kann. Ah, "La Paloma," a most beautiful song. My all-time favorite vocal version of this song is by Mireille Mathieu -- where a French woman sings this Spanish-Basque song in German.
