more about islamic law, probably predates islamic law as a customary practice though however Alladin wouldn't have cared that much about the jin being magic, early islam wasn't that strict on such things, but not going for all the wishes, certainly not freeing the genie, that is just common sense, djin were not considdered benevolent, they wil either deliberatly trick or wil simply be ignorant about implied meaning and grant exactly what was asked, for instance say he asked for a thousand virgins the djin might give him a thousand babies, might even be dead, might be animals, . so binding it to it's lamp is just a smart move. concerning the dogmatic islamic view shown that is based on an 18th century form of Islam that expanded a lot in especially the last century, trough support from the Saudis and so on. Wahabism actually contradicts early islamic notions , it was born from a humiliating crisis which saw Christian/enlightenment europe become domminant and practically unbeatable, so many (like in the byzantine empire during the early expansion of islamic arabia) grew to believe that their misfortune was due to them strayig from the path, which logically must have been more dogmatic, more extreme, despite that not being the case, they were beaten because they were more dogmatic not because they were less so

Not the cute pixie ones, the ones that curse your baby to die by pricking her finger on a spinning wheel because you didn't invite them to the party. There also good and evil Djinn. In the original Aladdin story there's no three wishes rule and Aladdin also has a Djinn that lives in a ring of his that's less powerful than the lamp Djinn. It's a plot point that Aladdin keeps forgetting about the djinn that lives in his ring.

Wow Don is sounding more and more like his dad’s caricature. Good to see that this channel might free you from the chains of KZread guidelines. Be free genie
As I recall from the old version I read decades ago in a translation of 1001 Arabian Nights- Aladdin was a poor Chinese boy who was a good-for-nothing until his father the shoemaker died and his mother had to work to support him. The magician tricked him into opening the vault that held the lamp, but gave him him a ring, not knowing its power. The lamp held multitudes of Jinn, the ring also had many Jinn inside, and they granted any wish except one- to have the egg of the Roc bird. If you wished for that, the Jinn would kill you. Aladdin abused the crap out of the lamp to get married to the princess. The magician, who had gone back to his home in Africa, found out Aladdin was alive and tricked the princess into selling him the "wretched old lamp on the mantle". He promptly wished himself, her, and the castle Aladdin wished for to be transported to his homeland. Aladdin was accused of the crime of kidnapping the princess, and to keep his head, promised to bring her back in a certain amount of days. He accidentally rubbed the ring, and from there wished himself to where the magician and princess were. He snuck in and killed the magician, used the lamp to wish everything back to where it was, and had a few other adventures before the story truly ended. Read the book, guys. It's even more fantastical than the short versions you see and hear. The story of Scheherazade and the 1001 Arabian Nights is a worthy read.

actually the genie from the original aladin story (not disney) would perform wishes exactly as asked. but aladin was a humble man, so all he'd want is a feast every night, which the genie would oblige. his mother would take all the silverware the food was served on, wash it, and take it to market to sell the next morning.
Absolutely brilliant, the animation of the genie when he is threatened with losing a hand, and the voice of Aladdin was absolutely fantastic, the ending was spot on as well. Would be brilliant to see this become a series.

If this was historically accurate, or at least a faithful adaptation to the original Alladin story, Alladin would have been Chinese, not Arabic.
The pure comparative simplicity of this toon paired with the hilarious details like the sword being unsheathed was top notch.
