The trick to hunting the Wild Crouton is to use the correct type of cudgel. A rigid cudgel, or a heavy one, will shatter the crouton. You need one that is padded and just heavy enough to do the job. Improper cudgel selection is one of the primary reasons why students fail the rigorous exam to become a fully certified Chasseur de Croutons. Wild Croutons can be trapped as well, but it can take a long time (the common Wild Crouton is very shy) and one must use the right bait.

If only I’d known this when I was just starting out! I assumed I was hitting the croutons too hard, to counter that, I would swing slower, giving them time to escape! I did have some success, but it was limited, and more often than not I would either shatter the crouton or let it escape. I only learned this when I went crouton hunting with a true expert, met through a mutual friend. It truly opened the wider world of crouton hunting up to me.

Don't be fooled into buying these knives. I bought three. None of them are sharp. They are obviously factory made in their thousands. The sheaths are man made "leather", i.e plastic. They are advertised all over the place variously as Japanese, Viking, Chinese, Russian etc. They are extremely difficult to get a decent sharp edge on, even with specialist honing equipment. I have gathered from other sources that a few get handmade and sent out to people for review purposes. If you don't want to be duped, DON'T BUY.

I wish I’d read this first. The website is also very dodgy. After you put in to order one it pops up all this crap wanting you to add this or that to the order. I didn’t notice till the very end, after I’d paid, that it had added FOUR more to my order……. I’ve put in a request to cancel the order. Luckily I paid with PayPal. If they give me any trouble I’ll dispute it through them. Aaaaand, they’re nothing but trouble. They keep replying that a specialist will contact me in 1-2 hours. Almost 24 hours in and nothing but automated BS responses.

@@PlatinumRotsu Uh oh! About a month after buying the knives I got hacked and started getting hundreds of email adverts coming through, every day... I hadn't thought about it being because of buying the knives. I haven't lost any money from any accounts (yet) but it was, is, very, very annoying and has really messed up what I can do online. I get dozens of emails every day telling me that my device has picked up a 'virus' and I must buy this or that app to get it fixed. There has been a huge increase in rubbish advertising and I am blocked from doing all sorts of things that I used to do online like buying things that I want to. Your comment has really made me wonder if the knife purchases are where the problems all started from. Food for thought indeed.

It is pretty common for a single factory in China to make the same product for many brands, under different names, with different levels of quality control. I.e. what may be a second tier run for one brand, may be fine as a first quality for another. That being said, I'd personally rethink the sponsorship, you have worked long and hard to bring a sense of integrity to the world and it'd be a shame to lose that over money. I'll still watch if you make fewer videos, as long as they are well made, and share the much needed message of slowing down and living a connected life. Cheers.

So I have been told my entire life that I'm Native American until I recently did an ancestry test and it came back that I'm 57% Scottish specifically from the highlands so I love being able to see an accurate form of information. As a way to learn a bit about my heritage.

@@Johnny-tt5dw I don’t know how it works but I’m guessing you might be able to trace where your ancestors lived, and places like the Inverness or Sutherland for instance are part of the highlands region of Scotland. So…maybe it tracks where in Scotland ancestors are from and then from there you can just Google if it’s classified a high or lowlands area? I’m not too sure; that’s how I thought it might be but I don’t know if this is correct or even remotely how the process works

How did the highland people keep their kilts and clothing clean? I'm sure most of them could be smelled for miles away before you actually would see them. Very curious.
