Historic Flight Foundation Museum at Felts Field - DC-3 Spitfire Metalplane B-25 P-51B F8F Beaver

The Historic Flight Foundation Museum on Felts Field in Spokane, Washington, captures the action of aviation from 1927 to 1957 with a collection of rare aircraft, many of which fly. When we dropped in, the museum's staff and docents were friendly and helpful, and the ability to step out on the museum's ramp to observe flight operations at Felts Field was easygoing and interesting. The museum flew its DC-3 that day, as you will see in this video.
The collection includes World War II fighters, trainers, and a scarce early D-model B-25 Mitchell, as well as civilian classics including the only flyable 1929 Hamilton Metalplane that conjures images of early mailplanes -- see our Airailimages Outro at the end of this video for another vintage view of a Metalplane.
The Historic Flight Foundation Museum complements the whole vintage feeling of Felts Field. Located next to the classic 1930s brick hangar and former headquarters of the Washington National Guard's 116th Observation Squadron, the new museum facility opened in December 2019.
The video tags several museum aircraft as they appear individually on camera; other non-museum airplanes including a Bonanza, a Stearman biplane, and a classic round-tail Cessna are seen coming and going from Felts Field on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
It is always a good idea to check with any museum before visiting to learn the current operating hours and accessibility.
Please give this video your Thumbs Up. And we appreciate it when you subscribe to the Airailimages Channel on KZread.

Here's a good one from the Rail side of Airailimages -- the Cumbres and Toltec narrow gauge steam railroad working hard on grades in northern New Mexico: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nYdmmqWcmtrgcZM.html

To provide wide exposure to the commendable effort by the members of this museum deserves applause.

Good comparison. It felt great to be there watching the DC-3 and listening to the music of those Pratt & Whitneys.

Love the PAA Gooney Bird. My dad flew C-47s most of WW-II and the flew for Pan American Grace Airways all over South America in DC-3s!

They moved from Paine Field, Everett, Washington. I believe they still have a restoration and maintenance facility at Paine, but their museum and flying activities appear well-suited to Felts Field in Spokane.

That photo was in a collection of airmail-related photos, unfortunately without caption details.
