HISTORIC Drag Cars & Wild Action from the Holley MoParty
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Holley MoParty is a wild event, with drag racing, autocross racing, a very famous Dodge Charger jump, burnout contest and more throughout the three-day weekend. I had a great time covering this event for Hemmings, and was able to capture some video while I was there. I hope you guys enjoy seeing my favorite vintage drag cars, crazy survivor cars, swap meet finds and general fun from the MoParty.

Mopar or no car baby. This is your best video!
The first time I ever went to "Union Hill, " Johnny was there. The only time he had a shirt on was when he suited up top make a run or it was cold outside. That was late 70"s. Fast forward to early 2000's, I worked as a track official and he was still there. When you worked the lanes and pulled him out to make his run, without fail he would blip the throttle giving your ankle a blast of scented exhaust from the side mounted headers as he drove past, didn't matter what lane he was in. That was precision. Great competitor and Mopar fanatic!
Sleeper Dude sent me. Love the content. Super easy to listen to, thanks for that. Lots of beautiful old mopars there. Still don't understand why everyone is so hung up on the Hemi. 318 and 340 can make some serious power and last forever. 🤷
Back in the early 1970's, my brother owned a 1967 440 GTX with 4 speed and 4:10 posi. Hell of a car!
Mopar makes the coolest Most beautiful vehicles. And their color pallet is just immaculate

I agree 100 percent. Nothing beats Mopar colors.
Cool to see one of our hometown boys covered, The 78 Dodge aspen street kit car. Jerry Harris . I remember when he bought the car, He also has a winged Dodge daytona & super birds. those are not in such pristine condition but driver cars, he will drive them around town and to local car shows. some of his cars more than likely raced at the historic Alton Dragway. where the 1st 200 mph pass was put down.
Nice. My husband came out of the army & picked up a 70 Cuda 440 w shaker hood. Love Mopar!
Great Video.....Thanks for sharing the run on my Roadrunner...Couldn't see ANYTHING from my camera angles...Subbed.
Funny how you never saw the TV General Lee looking like that ha ha
Mopar freak since I was a kid, that's an incredible event, jaw dropping cars!
Cool looking mopars wish I seen them in person
Does anyone else think the Challenger TA side exit exhaust is one of the coolest touches on any muscle car? Lol seriously love that exhaust!

Definitely an iconic MOPAR touch.
Looks like a very fun, cool event! I'd buy those vintage Firestones just to hang on the wall of my garage. Great conversation pieces! Awesome General Lee jump, I've been a fan since I was little watching the TV series. I've always dreamed of owning my own GL. 😎 Thanks for sharing!
Great video.👍
The wheels that had the red line tires on then , we're ford wheels , same bolt pattern , but a Mopar dog dish will not fit on it. The wheels on the Super Coupe are not cop wheels , they are actually Super Coupe wheels and have no tabs for dog dish caps. Those wheels came in a 15 X 7 for the Marida and 15 X 8 for the Super Coupes , usually had a bolt on chrome center cap and trim rings.
wow that General Lee took a massive landing and still started and drove on her own power dang that is a tuff Crown Lee
Outstanding video. That had to be hard to take it😊 all in
Definitely some cool old Mopar's
I wanna see the drag racing!!! Thanks for sharing, some totally awesome old drag cars there!!!
Looks like a good time was had by everyone there 👍🇦🇺
Great job my friend. Really enjoyed every minute. Thanks for sharing. 🥰
That black charger in my opinion is the best burnout I've ever seen it was just so smooth not super high revving to the Moon tons of tire speed just the right amount of smoke just the right amount of sound it was perfect !!! A real muscle car 💪makes me want to get out my 73 Gran Torino😂
Love that " Nascar inspired" Aspen, btwn.78-79 I think only 154 were purchased. Gorgeous and this coming from a Ford guy but still love Chrysler products.
That jump was just like those duke boys 😊😊😊
So the a100 with the wing is legit! I'm from Knox, IND.. The guys that own it now bought it off the 85 year old man that built the the truck.. The old man also owns a all original 68 hemi gtx with numbers matching drivetrain and original window sticker!
These are some of the greatest MoPar’s I have ever seen. Not really a Mo Par guy! But, really enjoyed this Video! Thank you for sharing!
Great job on the video!! That event must have been EPIC!! Thanks for posting this.. DMAX
YOU MAKE ME FEEL SOME TYPE-O-WAY!!!!
Great content !!! You did an outstanding job putting everything together and making it interesting even for a Chevy guy 👌

Enjoyed, it was a GREAT weekend out there!!!!!! 👍👍👍👍
Nice man thanks love nostalgic drag stuff hecks yea
I was always told the cross ram was a “under hood tunnel ram”
Back in the 70's, the Paul Rossi car was featured in a Gabriel shock absorber ad in every car mag in the country. The pics were 3 or 4 stop motion going into a wheelstand. It ran over 2 pages.....

I want that weber carb tunnel ram! Wow! Cool!! Excellent video as always 👌
Lace Paint. I love the paint on the Wacky Wagon and The Abominable Snowman.
Another outstanding episode…..well done 👍👍
Very cool Thanks
IF THIS VID DONT MAKE YOUR BLOOD PUMP , YOUR ALREADY TO FAR GONE ! THANK YOU SIR ! "TOP SHELF" ! 🇺🇲
Great video! Looks really cool to have been there!
Great coverage! You're the best!
Thank you so much for showing this content. I had no idea these shows existed. I’m definitely going to bring my hellcat to one! Awesome upload!
This would be the place to go, very cool place and the car's are beautiful.
Just for info, the drag boat exhaust manifolds are exactly known as logs.
U can thank Barrett Jackson and Mecum for the rediculous prices on everything now. Back in 1969 I saw a brand new super bee A12 car in the dodge dealership show room, less than 3800 dollars. And the wanted 2000 bucks for just the hood, thanks a lot to those bastards running those auctions.
Awesome video and coverage as usual. 🍻
Very nicely done! About a third of the way in to this episode I thought this guy shoots like a professional. I figure a professional photographer that has an interest in cars is what I need KZreadr needs to be nowadays. Or at least have somebody who is very good at photography. Then you say you're there for the photo shoot for hemmings. Great company has a lot for the hobby. So you have the right stuff. Even pulled off the mortal sin of voiceovers. Almost every other KZreadr apologizes when they have to do voice overs because some technical glitch. But your production was so smooth and the voiceover Fits. I'm sure others agree with my opinion on the high quality product we just watched. The victoLEE as I've called them are interesting creation. I'm assuming they put a modified 69 body probably from a kid and floor panned it onto a crown Vic. You're tired please interceptors. Always made sure with two exceptions I got a supervisors vehicle. I dug into its history when I've bid on them at auction. My point is I don't know what to do for a drivetrain best definitely not a stock crown Vic. I've seen these before like at cooters store. Bo Duke as he's known to his fans jump one of these and his event. But the purposely built for jumping. Now I get all this. Well I don't get he's sitting there smoking and burning off your tires and making a lot of smoke. That's all right and the folks don't get the jumping in general Lee. It's all part of the car obvious enthusiasm. This shot of the general Lee jumping across that you took matches up very well with the original that you wanted to capture. I can see why this episode by you was so highly recommended. Isn't it nice at the true Spirit of a car hobbyist still lives on. Helping each other out even when that up and coming KZreadr can result in stiff competition later on as the KZread field becomes more crowded. Thanks for an excellent presentation in this episode.
Thank you Tommy Lee!!!😎 😎 😎 Going to "Mopar Muscle Car Shootout" tomorrow (9\24\22) at Sacramento Raceway! 🤘🏾 💯 😎 💯 🤘🏾
Thanks champion 👍🇭🇲
Good to see you Americans finally taking Burn Outs seriously. Still got a LONG way to catch us Aussies but get after it!
My favorite is the A100 Daytona.😂👍
Hell yea always awesome content
I remember reading about that purple Cuda as a kid in the nineties, basically that car lived in the original owners living room, I thought it was the Bartells that owned it. They lived on a dirt road, and it was entombed for 25 years!
Great video. G'day from Australia
There was a 76 Aspen kit car at the local dealer in monroe Michigan that didn't sell for at least 4 to 5 years. I remember looking at it and the undercarriage was all covered with rust.
Hated that I missed the show, had to cancel the day before going broke a CV axle in my Durango that I put in shows. Looked like a bad ass show for sure
Love the 69 Charger burnout!
That engine up on that truck is a 440 I could tell because the stamping on the side of the block was pointing out and all Mopar engines have the CI stamped right on the side of the block and that was a 440
I imagine the very early cross ram intakes would function similar to the 80's GM Tuned Port setups; those long runners would make massive torque from low to midrange rpm, but fall off in power in the higher revs. Btw, even if that Caprice chassis General Lee was fake, It still looked nice on the outside. I wouldn't have had the heart to jump it and tear it up. lol

Its kind of like the Vortec heads too, they were made for optimum efficiency right in the sweet spot in the middle of gears .. The tuners started messing around with them later and made them a sought after piece for builds, but that wasnt their intended purpose
Just an FYI, SWEET WILLIE ROBINSON, PASSED AWAY IN 2012, He Drag raced a SUPER BIRD, I remember seeing him!
Rought roe ragy!
Wait for your upload every week!
Dusty coronet was rad
I think you should go hunting for a new steering column for that 73 Ford pick up At the boneyard or something it was just cool to keep that truck all original for some reason lol

yah the long rams (i5 inch & 30 inch) were like 60-64 ? mainly on the big cars newports new yorkers, after about 2500 rpm all out of tq , the spyder or spider rims are cool was offered from factory till the center started cracking
I had a nascar aspen in petty blue with lettering 30 years ago i bought at a used car lot for $900

You know i loved this one, I wanted to go but it just didn't work out but thanks brother for the great work of covering it, really enjoyed it as all of your shows 👍👍👍👍👍✅✅✅✅✅
My first car was a 1979 Dodge Aspen and it was red on red with the same interior as that Street kit car has but mine had the column shift instead of the Console shift like that car has. I have a Aspen now it's another red on red car but it's a R/T car it has everything that street kit car has but the numbers and stuff but mine has white pinstripe with R/T on the side it has a 360 in it the same as the lil red express and the 1979 Chrysler 300 cars with the police package 360. The car is not on the road right now because I am doing work to it but it should be done this year or early next year and it will be mint.
I was hoping to see The Loose Caboose make a pass. Saw him many nights at the Brainerd Optimist Dragstrip..

Sorry about that. My main agenda with going to the show was photographing it for Hemmings Motor News so I wanted to make sure I got some still shots of the Loose Caboose in the article.
I woulda bought that 67 'Barra had I been there , need something like that as an excuse to start on my 383 - 435 stroker build.. I think that crossram is optimised for efficiency at 2000 - 3500rpm , which is what most day to day driving is right at, they arent no high rpm piece at all. Hey dont you wanna pick up those vintage tyres to clone and reissue? ')
for rubber Goodrich Age master kept rubber mint since the 70's Its expensive though $200 a qt its the best stuff you can get
Was a drone flying around in the burnout smoke?
😁😁
As you get older you realize how important time is. I was 16 yesterday , now 59. Where did it all go? Allota time wasted for sure. Precious , Precious Time.
10:52 Cuda. Original Paint???
7 miles on it . purchased to just put it away , crazy . they're meant to be driven . but hey it's her car , to each their own .
25:03 For me it’s still way too nice to jump it and destroy, but I don’t think it’s his first rodeo. I think years ago I saw a KZread video of how he built them
Hated that the General Lee jumped and got nearly totaled (even though that's a clone in a Crown Victoria frame), but cool video.
The Great Butch " Leal " which for your info is pronounced " Le'Al '" not Leel 👍👏⁉️ Leal people are originally from the Canary Islands who traveled to Mexico then on to build San Antonio, Texas where they were successful for many years 👍
Way back in 1975 I was walking home from work, I was 17, my job was at a Texaco where I washed cars, fixed flats and did oil changes 60 hrs. a week for $150. As I was walking by Stockmans Ford, a 69 Dodge Super Bee caught my eye. It was blue, had a 4 speed, under the hood was a 440 Magnum. A salesman came out and told me that it was the weekly special. $300.00, thats right three hundred dollars, but there was a hitch. No drive shaft. I had $600 stashed away at home, but doubt took over. I stupidly didn't think getting a driveshaft would be easily obtained in Gillette WY. I worked at a gas station that repaired cars for crying out loud. The other thing that gave me doubt, and most importantly was my dad. I don't think he would have let me buy that car fearing I would kill myself and somebody else, he was very overprotective, though he was a gear head himself, driving over 100 mph with me in the car on WY. state highways didn't concern him lol. The other thing was I wouldn't have been able to test drive it to see if there were any other issues. As a survivor who knows what thar car would be worth today.
The Rossi Challenger is a clone, not to take anything away from it, a really nice car. The original one is still with this owner. kzread.info/dash/bejne/l5h2xsSulKrVo7A.html
MOPAR or whatever a Ford is...
“Put it away never drive it keep it clean” why? take a full-size picture put it on your wall there you go now you get to look at it in perfect condition anytime you want to take 1 million pictures but then go out and drive it it’s a high-performance car not grandmas grocery getter I’ve got a pristine 89 Mustang it’s absolutely flawless over the years I’ve put $80,000 into it with different engine combinations and paint jobs and transmissions and I drive the hell out of it I’ve got 30,000 on the blown stroked stock block piece that’s in it now I’ve also got an Evo one GSR they’re only 1500 of those made mine is Mint and I’m not afraid to dent it I’m just good enough that I haven’t yet but I don’t care if I keep it until it turns into a pile of rust and I threw away $30,000 when I only paid 10 for it it’s more amazing to drive in five minutes then all the time I spend looking at it I don’t understand you people you’re insane to me

Totally agree…. Garage stars and trailer queens are a waste as far as I’m concerned….
I can't see destroying a motor just to get someone to watch .
Dry hops on dusty asphalt!? Seriously, if the owner of that car reads this, take that car and your driver to some back half no prep races and make some money in the street car class!
Don't let gas powered cars be a thing of the past. Get out and vote. Fight the good fight finish the race and keep the faith. 🙏🏾🙏🙏🏼🙏🏿🙏🏽♥️🇺🇲💪🏼💪🏾💪🏿🔥🕊️🦅

I'm glad they didn't use a real Charger for that stupid stunt.
Dog dish hubcaps caps are ugly and in most cases total bullshit
Great job on the video footage 👍🏻
Chrysler build quality was garbage......Ford and Chevy build good cars but Chrysler sold very few cars due to lack of quality and the styling was just plain butt ugly and oh the sound of the horrible starters
I'm waiting for the day they stop these rediculas smoke shows .. its BS for kids stuff ...
Frankly not impressed with idiots jumping the General lee type cares. There are not many left and soon will be extinct because people think it's fun destroying our classic cars. Pick a frikin 90's car to jump and be a fool. Also, how do you keep up with what swap meets where? I can't find any info for them around ATL.

I totally agree. My second cousin, AL Wyatt Jr, was the stuntman who primarily drove the GL on the show. I have tried to find a '69 Dodge Charger R/T, but its almost impossible to find one in good enough condition to restore. My desire is to build a GL, in honor of my cousin's passing, in 2012. I had the honor of talking to Tom Sarmento, who was the lead mechanic on DOH, and finding out the likes and dislikes, that Allen preferred. I don't see my dream of building a GL coming true, because the 69 Charger R/Ts are almost non-existent anymore.
