Historic "CAT SKINNER" Willys Gasser LIVES ON!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I love seeing historic drag cars, whether they're rotting in the woods, stashed away in a barn or restored to perfection, like this incredible Willys gasser. This all out show car belongs to Beau Renfroe from Georgia, and it's a piece of his father's legacy. Bogan Renfroe raced this Willys coupe in A/Gas competition during the mid 1960s, the height of the gasser wars. The "Cat Skinner" name, the candy apple paint job and the car's awesome performance make it a memorable car for many people in the Southeast who watched this car run at tracks like Southeastern International Dragway in Dallas, Georgia, Yellow River Drag Strip, Atlanta Speed Shop Dragway (both in Covington, GA), Jefco Dragway, Paradise Drag Strip, Brainerd Optimist Drag Strip and MANY more in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and the Carolinas.
This is one of three Cat Skinners that Bogan built in a two year period. Learn more about this car's timeline, and Bogan's racing career in the video. Also see how this old race car was transformed into a show car, with incredible details inside, outside and underneath. Kent Waters Originals built the car, and Beau uses it as a tribute to his father's racing days. Luckily, Bogan is still with us, and even at 80 years old, recalled those drag racing memories as if they happened last week, when in fact, this car hasn't been on the track in more than 50 years.

Beautiful car and color. So much nicer than the current tragic trend of boring murdered out cars

I love listening to great racing stories like this one! It's awesome to hear he ran a 427 Ford,& a 427 cammer in his cars! I've been living in GA for almost 6 years now, I'm only about 14 miles from Jefferson. I never knew they once had a dragstrip there. The new Willys is simply amazing! I can't imagine the hours & money it took to build this dream car! It's still Ford powered too! His dad is 10 years older than me,I hope he's still in good health. I'd love to meet them sometime! Thank you for this great video & the narration! I lived in IN most of my life. Raced at Bean Blossom, I imagine it was like so many other local tracks around the country. Also Muncie, IN,which was a much nicer dragstrip. Attended many US NATIONALS in Indy, over several decades.❤

The 1941 Willys has always been my most favorite hot rod / drag car... From KS Pitman to Woods Stone & Cook tu these cars are the true essence of old school Gasser drag racing.

Hopefully with that powerplant it doesnt sound too obnoxious like most mustangs sound. Would love to hear it run. As a kid growing up 8n early 70's I was addicted to all the hot rodding magazines that covered all this racing and would remember just how awesome the Willys coupes looked with those tunnel rams protruding out the hoods.

The car is, as you said, a show-stopper. But the story---man you can tell a story! Absolutely loved this one. And by the way, if you are discussing a make of car, it is pronounced "Willis" as you did. But if you are talking gassers, it is 100% a "Willees". LOL!

Amazing car, unfortunately the car doesn't represent the story/history like it would have done if it was still old school original, the story board is a must. Personally i would have had the wording put on the car, would have been more in line to tribute then

I just don't understand putting at least a hundred grand into a car to end up with something that's undrivable, doubtful this car will be driven twenty miles a year, let alone be raced.

And that is how to pronounce ';Willys'. Great story, great car, but a man named Bogan? You could drink for free in NZ & Aussie if your names was indeed, Bogan.

What's the point? Either restore it to it's original period race condition or just leave it "as found". Now it's just another stupid show car with no significance.👎
