As an African who never experienced such, move to Jamaica with my Jamaican wife and am anxiously waiting and not knowing how to handle this but definitely trusting God to see us through this experience

It formed on September 8, 1988, and dissipated on September 19, 1988. Gilbert made landfall in Jamaica on September 12, 1988, as a Category 4 hurricane, causing significant damage and loss of life. Dani the 2300 EDT advisory here has this moving almost due West but still max winds of 150. however it does look to now be staying a bit South of you and if its gonna hit Kingston dead on its gonna have to make a significant jog North pretty damn soon because this thing is really moving. Yep keep your fingers crossed here over the next 6 hours. Remember that this is a smallish storm thus even a 50km miss is gonna make a HUGE difference. It appears that the pressure ridge to the North has NOT abated and if it holds together you guys may be in a LOT better shape. Now IF this holds at 290 degree heading its gonna miss a Kingston direct hit by 40km or so. Yep that will definitely take some of the edge off and that's ignoring the shear as well. BTW over the past 3 hours the heading has been 275 degrees because the curvature of Earth is considered (not 290 as the NHC has it). If THAT heading holds you won't even have a Cat2 there!

I know i said this prayer already Yesterday but. Father in the Name Of Jesus, I command hurricane Beryl to shift from the Caribbean, BVI, USVI, USA, And UK 🇬🇧, on Jesus name. Hurricane Beryl I command you to leave Jamaica Alone in the name of Jesus and go back into the ocean now in Jesus name Amen Hallelujah🙌❤🙏🏼. Stay Safe.
