Edison Lighthouse are an English pop band, formed in London in 1969. The band was best known for their 1970 hit single "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" recorded in late 1969. Edison Lighthouse was named after the Eddystone Lighthouse off the coast of Devon. The band later dropped the Lighthouse and became just Edison. The Eddystone Lighthouse is a lighthouse that is located on the dangerous Eddystone Rocks, 9 statute miles (14 km) south of Rame Head in Cornwall, United Kingdom. The rocks are submerged below the surface of the sea.

I agree Amber, 70's pop included every "so called" genre, and is close to my heart being 6-15 years old in that decade. The 80's is a real close second. In both decades I went from childhood to young adulthood and music is just full of great memories of the best years of my life. I feel fortunate to have experienced the incredible music and variety, and evolving styles during those epic years. 😊

Music is the sound track to our lives. We hear a song and are transported back in time. We know exactly where we were and what we were doing. For example the song Joy To The World. I heard it during smoke break at school and the cicadas were out and covered the trees. I didn't smoke but my friends did. I'm a little older than you but feel the same way as you. I am more partial to the 70s though.

I love it when I see young people experiencing the music of that era. What they probably didn't know, when setting out on this journey of discovery, is how significant music was to a young, pre-internet, pre-social media generation. It might not be too far off to say it was everything, for it was the one thing you shared with everyone else and it was always around you. And that was in large part due to the explosion of energy and creativity that went into that musical era, beginning in the '50s and lasting thru the '70s.

Tony Burrows was the lead singer on this song. He was a studio musician and was used on several "one hit wonders" as the lead vocalist. Burrows sang the lead vocals on several other "one hit wonders" songs under different group names, Edison Lighthouse's "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" (February 1970); White Plains' "My Baby Loves Lovin'" (March 1970); the Pipkins' novelty song "Gimme Dat Ding" (April 1970); and the First Class' "Beach Baby" (July 1974). He also sang lead vocals on Brotherhood of Man's "United We Stand", which reached No. 10 on the UK chart and also reached No. 13 in the U.S. More "one hit wonders" than any one in history.

I've mentioned "What's New" several times, and keep hoping others will mention it too. I know they get requests for so many songs, and it takes time to get to them. I do have another request that I REALLY hope they will consider. "Black Is The Color (of my true love's hair)" by Peter Hollins and Avi Kaplan. Their voices together are pure magic. I love watching the reactors react to what they're hearing and I'd LOVE to see Jay and Amber react to it too. Peter's beautiful tenor and Avi's deep, gorgeous bass are simply stunning . Avi's voice .....OMG !

Childhood memories. Also, all over TikTok at the moment. While we're on the subject of lighthouses . . . "Oh no, he's going to ask for Lighthouse Family again, isn't he?" . . . indeed he is, could you please listen to a Lighthouse Family song, any song, but especially the wonderful 'High'? I'm sure you'd love the sentiment. It's a niche market, lighthouse-named groups, but as the great philosopher Jim Carrey once said: “I feel that we’re all lighthouses, and my job is to shine my light as brightly as I can to the darkness.”

This was a genre which targeted youngsters, young teens. It was called "Bubble Gum", because the audience were so young and chewing bubblegum. Other B.G. songs were from groups like "The Archie's", "1910 Fruit gum Company", "The Partridge Family", "Tommy Roe", Ohio Express", etc etc. The majority of which were all one hit wonders. 😎

I loved both The Monkees & Hendrix (who they discovered btw), Archie's & Janis Joplin, Dylan, Doors, CCR, Alice Cooper, Whitney Houston, Green Day, etc. The list is too long. I don't like every song. Even The Beatles had a few I didn't like. But I don't mind a well crafted pop/bubblegum song.
