His Holiness Karmapa performed the "Go-Ma" sacred Dance during "Gutor" events in Bodhgaya, India on February 20th.
The Black Hat dance is an elaborate ritual that took many days to perform in Tibet. The purpose of the ritual is to eliminate the obstacles, which in the individual are the afflictive emotions and misconceptions that cause sufferings. At the beginning of the dance, the Black Hat Dancers make symbolic offerings of Gold Libation (tea) to the lineage Lamas, Tutelary deities (different forms of the Buddha) and Dharmapalas (truth protectors), in order to please them and receive their blessings.
As stated in the Vinaya, code of monastic ethics, the robes of ordination serve as a reminder that the person wearing them is fully ordained monk. Ina similar manner, the Black Hat costume is worn by some Tantric practitioners to maintain the clarity and pride of arising in the wrathful aspect of a tantric deity. This divine confidence or pride serves a special funtion for the exclusive path of Tantra. The Black Hat dancers apply protective substances on their cheeks and forehead which give them the wrathful appearance of wrath. They exhibit this fierce aspect in order to tame the minds of sentient beings afflicted by such negative emotions of hatred, greed, and ignorance. They are not motivated by anger, but by the supreme love and compassion.

n this puja is done to ward off serious misfortunes or obstacles in the future of the world n those who sees it with reverence n deep faith is said to be free from the severity'' of any misfortune"(if it is to happen it will happen but watching it with deep faith will lessen the severity) that might be written in their karma. It is a very much respected n in reality also is a very gruelsome dance. Lamas practices for it before two months only to get everything right. So, it is a hardwork of the whole monastery n i just want to say that we all r very lucky to see the karmapa" performing the dance even though it is through net. Here it's our people dream to even get a glimpse of him in real :)

"hey everyone.. i think i made a little mistake. At first i thought it was gutor but i dont know about go-ma dance. but anyways,overall its related with gutor only. That's why mahakala's statue is in the centre :) Actually its my first tym watching go-ma. So, im luckily blessed to witness it :)

Amazing, may all obstacles in this illusionary samsaric world be obliterated! Regarding silver skinned throne....hopefully it is not real. Karmapa's great works in saving the environment and the animals, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama's proclamation to no longer kill for or wear animal fur several years ago have improved those issues alot. Main problem is others who prey on the animals illegally and sell on the black market worldwide.

It's a 'Tantric orchestra', the music is for ritual/meditation practices within Vajrayana. So, you could find it wherever a group of people are practicing Tantric ritual.
