Fellow New Jerseyan here! What a car and what a story behind it. This has to be one of the nicest Road Runner's you've shown us, Lou. And the cherry on the cake is that absolutely fantastic Road Runner made by Adam's Mom. Alot of heavy sentimental touches going on with this car story, Lou. Couldn't help but smile throughout this video. And that Hemi idle? That was the sound of Nascar in 1969 and 1970!

Truly a masterful job has been done in restoring this fantastic 1970 Plymouth Road Runner to its former glory, and even improving it! The combination of yellow with the black vinyl roof looks great. Also, its brown interior with those stylized wraparound seats could not be better (special mention for the friendly Coyote buckled into the right seat haha) Finally, a nice detail from his mother making that great wooden sign in the early 80's ! You did well by showing us at the end that photograph of Mr. Schlesinger, when he was 16 years old, saving this lucky Road Runner from the scrap metal dealer. Nice story, Lou, and best regards!

One of your best Lou. I cant tell you how many times I was out there working on my first car. Or how many times with my best friends on theirs. I had only brakes, exhaust, and minor rust issues.. and one transmission replant to do but I was always out there calling me to wash and polish it, vacuum it and splash a little cologne on the back seat carpet for the girls That 1963 Olds 88 coupe still haunts my dreams. I often in my dreams over the years, find I had forgotten where I put it and come across it again in a shed buried under things on the family farm.. weird I know..!! I love your guest and his dedication to this great car. That photo of him and his car at 16 blew me away. He could have been one of many of us. Funny I have had chances to buy another `63 Olds but none would do. They were not the one. God bless you and yours Merry Christmas to you and all your viewers. Praying daily for our great USA. I am heartbroken for everyone its not good for anyone.

Beautiful car Lou always loved the Roadrunner. Don't see many of the 1st car videos. I bought my Duster at 16 years old for 700 dollars reverse was out in the transmission but I got it running again (it had been sitting for 4 years when I got it) and eventually rebuilt the transmission and drove it to high school and college and work. I'm 32 now and almost finished with the restoration process.

This car is perfectly done. The owner must have spent a fortune on this restoration. Obviously he loved this car. Lou you did it again. He is saying he had added a lot of options. You ask him what they were. In the midst of his answer your ADHD kicks in and you interrupt him. Just relax, step aside and let the owner tell his car story. If the interview lags and the owner isn't saying anything or a question you have about the car hasn't been answered then by all means ask it. My question. Did he find all the parts that needed replacing or added or did the restorer do everything? Did he have to get a loan to finance this massive restoration or had he been squirreling money away for years to do it? You do find the coolest and rarest cars. You also feature cars that the average person could own but still enjoy and cherish. That is something I really admire about you and your show. Keep the cars coming. I will continue to watch with trepidation and be filled with questions at the end of the episode that weren't asked. Seeing the featured cars and proud owners will still be the best part of My Car Story.

Back in the day you could order a car with stripe delete and it would not have the dust trail stripe. You got to remember that these cars were originally family sedans or what we called grocery getter cars. Without the racing stripes and decals, the cars are dull and have no character. But, some guys like the sleeper look and want the car as plain as possible. Me? I want them decked out with all the factory stripes and muscle car features. To me, the dust trail strip on the 70 roadrunner was way cool and would never leave it off. @@413x398

From the factory...a manual lever type, plastic toggle switch on the lower dash, that operated a small vacuum tank (supplied by rubber hoses connected to the intake manifold) on the hood that moved a lever to open/close the Air Grabber door. Very simple design, genius engineering, and very effective. Had one on my '71 Charger.
