@@WorkLifeJapan I have a nice 300mm x 450 mm print that I took years ago of the TORII Gate at Miyajima. My mate printed it really well. Nice colour in the sky. taken back in the transparency / slide film days. I think I better get there again, in 2021, but, never in Japanese summer. Too hot and humid
Somehow the quality of the video is different than others, I feel like I was there right next to you 😳😳👏🏼 Thank you so much for your hard work! 🙏🏼
Love this channel. Always wanted to visit Japan...if I never actually get to, thanks for taking me there :)

hats off to you sir. your channel is filled with fresh and original content which appeals to a lot of people. Also your videos are always insightful and gives us a peek in Japan's culture ! Thank you.
Super duper excited to watch this. Feels like yesterday that you just took us there. Love your facial expression after every first bite...all your problems just melt away.
My fiancé and I are moving to Hiroshima soon and I love watching videos like this, they make me so excited!
I love it when you do food tours!
So excited for this video! The live streams are awesome, but these fully edited ones are always on a whole other level.
I have been watching you for so long. Even if I feel down my spark for travel and success are ignited when I watch your videos. You are THE best at the way your content is formatted. No one even shows inside shots of food like you do. Idk why I like that part lol. Hopefully I too can travel to Japan and get to experience all you have.
I must say that now that John has returned from his trip, and posting new ONLY in JAPAN episodes, they feel even more special to me. Following him on his journey, being there when he filmed it, and now getting to see the final product, is so exciting. I feel so honored to have experienced it. I didn't think it was possible to love John or this channel more than I did, but I was wrong. I love both now more than ever, and trust me, that's saying something. . :-)

in my opinion you have the best Japanese travel/food channel on KZread. such quality videos with lots of info and cool locations. plus you're really interesting and seem so nice and sweet (also helps that you're handsome lol). REALLY seems like this would be on TV. thanks for being awesome!!! ~from a long time fan
I am glad to have seen some of the "behind the scenes" while you were doing the live video on the Hitchhiking trip. You weren't kidding when you mentioned you had a lot more waiting in the wing for the episode, DVD etc...there were many more things here to see, hence the 2.5 terabytes. 😺😺 I'm lovin it

threeparots1 oh yeah! The video footage will last for years. The insert shot of the anago was taken 3 years ago so I keep everything. Makes each show a better experience when you can add more to it. The next episode was also on my trip :) I got so darn fat in the first 2 weeks!
Miyajima was one of my buddy & myself's highlight, when we were in Japan two years ago. I'm not a seafood eater but there was plenty of great food on the island for me to eat. My buddy on the other hand, was in seafood paradise. We pigged out while we were there. LOL! It's a must visit place. Great place to walk around, eat, climb Mt.Misen for the picturesque views to enjoy & relax. :)

Thank you this video is great! I'm visiting Japan on vacation in July, and have 1 day in Hiroshima & want to end it on this island. My question.. roughly what time do the food shops/stalls start to close at the end of the day??? Thank you, L
Hi, John, i saw your post on instagram so i'm here to watch your show again! I was in the middle of lunch but that doesn't matter anymore because i've been waiting for this video for a long time! Here's a question for you: as a tourist who doesn't speak japanese, not to mention reading, would it be difficult to navigate through the street food in miyajima, or are there people who speak english, or english menus? Thank you so much for the great videos and i am looking forward to the live streams from the Only in Japan GO channel as well! I loved seeing your hitchhiking trip!
@WaoryuONLYinJAPAN

Hi Andoria! Thank you for tracking back from instagram! Great question on Japanese speaking for tourists. In this area, foreign tourists outnumber the locals 20 to 1. If you include Japanese tourists, it's like 40 to 1 so from 10am to 5pm, the island is full of people who cannot speak Japanese. The store owners all speak enough English to sell you what you're interested in, but most can't have a full conversation with you about complicated things. I had a discussion about this with a few owners (in Japanese) and they all were so thankful that visitors come to the island but they get tired too because actually not everyone speaks English or Japanese. I don't think you'll ever have any problem navigating Miyajima with English only but as someone who can speak Japanese, the store owners and hotel staff light up when you try to speak Japanese! The effort is always very much appreciated. Google Translate App is free and you can take a picture of the Japanese menu and 75% of the time you can translate it! You can also use the app offline by downloading the Japanese language pack. It is a very useful took and also helps you learn some Japanese as you go. Thank you for supporting the new GO channel and I have a new live stream coming up very very soon. Can't wait!! -john
@Andoria07
7 жыл бұрын
Wow! Your answer is so complex and complete! I wasn't expecting that! Thank you very much! I'll take your advice and try to learn some japanese before i reach Japan and have the Google Translate app handy. Also, i wanted to send you my regards from Romania. I was so shocked hearing you say "buna ziua" to a romanian tourist back in Miyajima when i watched one of your facebook clips! That really made my day! You are full of surprises! Oh, and i can't wait for your next live stream! I'll be watching you! hahaha

Miyajima is a tourist trap. I felt like I used my time poorly going there from Hiroshima and I was only there for like 3 hours. It seems to be all about the deer and that is about it, I would suggest skipping it.
Amazing video as always Jhon!!!
dude u do these videos perfectly ,just by watching u eat it made me hungry for those...good work
Those fried cakes are essentially Japan's version of deep-fried Twinkies. And those oysters are like something you'd find on the Gulf Coast. The fish cakes remind me of Creole cuisine. This episode reminds me of The South.
