Around the 5:30-6:00 mark, it looks like going into Ginger GM's Black Lion type of attack with f5-f6, etc would be an aggressive approach.

For the last few days I’ve seemingly been allergic to winning but this video really got me back on track. The idea of not going for the win every move but just improving your position was a reminder I apparently really needed to hear, got a win in relatively dominant fashion right after watching this; thank you very much for the content

Nope 98 percent of the time I close the center,it is the coolest way to play chess and move your pieces around the the back ,my opening is the jbird into theory,I have to go to work but I'm coming back to look this one over❤😊

I took your ideas to the chess team I help coach. I’m not adept at the hippo yet, but I was able to get the students to stop and take the opening seriously today, which is good. I don’t want them caught off-guard in a tournament.

Ain't this the truth! I used to get wiped out my pawns flying at me, and it's hard to know how to deal with them - but there often is once you really study the theory. I cover theory in my hippo course, and you can also just plug positions into stockfish and see how it responds! You'll find that very often your opponent is weakening their position if you respond correctly.

Ok im done painting for today and now i watched the rest of the game awsome and what you said about not being fast and taking the easy way out yes,yes this is fun chess and i like how you do a recap at the end of video,im the same way and the reason for me to say the jbird earlier is them two center pawns and your pass is my jbird working like i said i have copy rights over the cow and theory and im writeing my chess book which i hope to get by the end of next year and lots and lots of games done aready not even posted so what im trying to get is what you did in this game i really and this is all i do ,i prey on this kind of game and this style of play and attack is my style except with my opening that i created in 1977 and it looks like you need no help on this but if something would came up about something no problem i more than likely have it in my data base of my chess games like said this is all i do and still looking to be better yet❤😊

  • @TheChessGiant

Couldn't agree more with this comment! It's focus is on the middlegame, arguably the most difficult section of a chess game. It does not rely on chess opening traps or memorization (although there is a little bit of theory) but instead middlegame positional understanding. That's cool you play it from time to time, always a good fall back if you don't know what your opponent is doing (or if you don't like any openings against a certain move!) Keep it up brother, Solomon.

Yes! One of my friends is going to start doing this, (and I used to as well!). You can start out the Hippo with the Modern Defense, Pirc Defense, French Defense, Owen's Defense, and technically the Owen's and h6 as well although my top two recommendations would be the Modern Defense or Owen's Defense with b6!
