Varnell and Sleep, just know, if things start turning, checking those accounts will show that they are essentially antis trying their hardest to create dissent and chaos among us. Ok now I finished the video and I must say: When I got introduced to jhope by watching his lollapalooza performance video almost 2 years ago, I was shocked that he’s from bts. I was so sure that I won’t like the others or their groups music. I thought that he MUST be the very best member, the most charismatic one, the best performer, the best dancer… oh girl, I was in for the wildest discovery mission in my life. Little did I know. I was humbled a lot in this time and found so much joy in this bora world they created for and with ARMY. It’s the most rewarding thing to be invited by others to watch them getting to know those musicians, even more when it’s people like you with a lot of expertise that know how to entertain as well. "Oh wow, this is like a heart" bro your heart eyes- he's melting into a purple puddle haha. BTW we appreciate this a lot sleep and varnell, truly. As a regular listener, I personally couldn't get into hip-hop because all I saw were fights and dissing + female sexualization. But since my introduction to bts and the rapline? It's been better, I can respect the beats and the art. More so with the information you have been sharing, these little insights and facts make the whole albums and tracks much more understandable from an artist's perspective. And yes, as a collective army's are the most supportive and kind fandom ever, bangtan nurtured us and you fall for bangtan the same way you fall for the army's, it's a whole positivity bundle of wonderfulness, them and us together. PS- we would looooove to hear everything about "Run BTS" because that song is dope af, especially the choreography video. Can that be an introduction to bts for Varnell? Because it was my first video I checked out of them (baby army here) and ngl I died and resurrected into a new person that day. PS PS- Varnell if you read this let me tell you the meaning of purple and why it is our color, in one of the fan meets (2016) V (aka Kim Taehyung) came up with the term "Borahae"; it means like the last color of rainbow which is bora (purple), ARMY and BTS would trust and love each other till the end of time + 7 colors of rainbow with 7 members of bts.

I've been an army for almost 7 years now, and I always learn something new from BTS, watching your videos and seeing the passion you have for music, for hip-hop, for the things that BTS' members have been sharing with us since before debuting is really refreshing, with your help I feel like I learned more than in the past 7 years about them, because seeing them thru the lens of fellow artists really showcases their art on more deep personal level, so thank you so much for these videos, they are positive, refreshing, educational and very meaningful to every ARMY, because you see them as they want to be seen, as artists, as singers, as creative people, not feelingless money pumping machine and us as brainless teenage girls who only care about their looks and trivial things such as their shoe size :DD p.s. I hope you continue to share these kind of videos p.s.s and I wish you could record video with an army and analyse their music by combining your knowledge in music and production and army's facts that we meticulously collected from whatever the boys share with us, from behind the scenes of production, their ideas, thought processes and etc.

FACT: BTS was recently named number 1 the "MOST AWARDED ARTIST OF ALL TIME" breaking Michael Jackson's record. BTS have accumulated over 1400 awards in a single decade as a group. Varnell is gonna really flip the switch when he sees J-Hope performance at HOBIPALOOZA and when he met up with J-Cole before the performance. He would also like the Hope on the Street Docuseries. There is also the Agust-D D-Day concert film. RM performed INDIGO for a small crowd of ARMY of which that's on KZread as well. Can't wait to see his reaction when he hears the cyphers, hip-hop phile, Born Singer (the old and PROOF 2022 version), Baaepsae, Ddaeng, UGH, Louder than Bombs, and RUN BTS. As an intro to the group make him listen to Map of the Soul, since he had it but never listened to it. HE GONNA REALLY CURSE AND KICK HIMSELF WHEN HE FINALLY LISTENS TO THE MAP OF THE SOUL ALBUM.

Our amazing Rap Line are all students of Rap/Hip Hop. Hobi (J-Hope) literally told J Cole "You are my muse." These 3 men LOVE this genre and always want to show the proper respect of where it came from, the roots and then add their own twist to it that relates to them and their culture (their Korean culture). Meshing the two together and like Varnell said, showing another group of people this music/art form to others that may not have known about it before. THIS is what our guys do :) In the BTS song Hip Hop Phile (Lover) they list some of the old school artists they have looked up to and the list is long and deep. I love how they add nuggets of old hip hop songs/or word play styling it after old hip hop songs into their own music. Example: In the album Love Yourself: Tear in the song "So What"; a tiny nugget RM raps that is definitely a nod to Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock "It Takes Two". Individually these guys are incredible. But as a trio, on stage together, seeing your brothers; someone you know/trust/love/respect; these three become monsters on stage. It's a pretty incredible thing. Keep going Sleep, I am truly enjoying the schooling you are providing and watching Varnell fall LOL Thank you for doing this 🥰

I hope BTS finds your channel. They will really enjoy your observations and insights. BTS Beyond The Story, their official book, went into detail on how during pre-debut, RM and Suga held "hiphop" classes in their dorm to expose the rest of the team to the culture. RM would give them usbs with playlists and encouraged them to listen to as many hiphop artists as possible. Hobi learnt rapping from Suga and RM and developed his own style. BTS studied hard because the original plan was to debut a hiphop group. When the direction changed into an idol group, it is a relief that they kept their hiphop roots. To this day, their strong grasp of hiphop shows in their group and solo albums. I know Namjoon will make sure their comeback album will be true to who BTS are musically and sonically. He said as much in the Mini & Moni Music Exhange conversation with Jimin.

Can we please also stop this notion that Hobi was not "hard" and that he was always soft. 1Verse, Baseline, Hangsang will show you how gritty his music was from the start. His lyrics and flows, especially in the earlier BTS work, had so much to offer, he can level with Joon and Yoongi, who had been doing this longer than him. I would argue Hobi learned to be "soft", musically, because he started "hard".

J-hope is so precise with the rhythmic flow that reverb and even auto tune can take off the timing just that tiny bit. To me, that’s why he doesn’t use it as much as some other artists where the rhythm doesn’t take priority. One of his signatures is how he plays with his vocal tone and the beat to create a very unique flow. He can beatbox and I often hear him playing with his voice like a beatboxer in the way he can manipulate his voice. More, Stop, Arson and Baseline (off Hope World) are examples of this. It’s one of the things that makes him stand out. I love his raspy tone as much as I love his falsetto. Our Hobi is talented.

Even in your older interviews it's very clear to see that you have a genuine appreciation for the music and the way you review and react to the music shows that you're coming from a place of knowledge and appreciation of the music and not just riding the coat tails for clout like some other reactors/people that have worked with BTS. Long Comment: Lollapalooza performance is insane! J-hope’s stage presence is phenomenal. I’m glad Varnell will get a taste of it because I feel like you don’t get the full j-hope experience without seeing him perform live. Thanks so much for doing this reaction and for RM and Suga too. I love Jack in the Box album and his solo songs a lot! His musical taste is probably closest to my own pre-BTS and I love his flow. It’s very creative and catchy. He really imagines the song as a live performance as well so I think that is why he builds in places he can rest within the song. This album was somewhat of a departure for him. He took a big risk and gave a great start to BTS’ chapter 2. All the guys really stretched themselves and tried new things in their solo work. As someone who deeply misses the great beats and flows of 90’s hip hop, this album was also so refreshing. It felt like j-hope took a lot of the music I listen to and reimagined it. I felt similarly when I listened to Right Place Wrong Person. At some point you should see the documentary j-hope in the box because you can see him working on the album and preparing for Lollapalooza not even to react to it but just to enjoy it. Suga’s documentary is very cool as well. Sleep- you really did a lot of work in editing the video and providing context to both Varnell and to everyone watching. Thanks for that. It's because of BTS that I started listening to hiphop and rap more, and then thanks to reaction videos like this, I learned more about the music genre and its cultural background. Needless to say, growing up in western Europe in an overwhelmingly white environment, hiphop is so undervalued and underplayed here (like literally, if you compare our charts to global ones and US ones) Over the past years of being an ARMY I also came to appreciate hiphop a lot more and also started listening to a lot of hiphop artists (though BTS will always be no 1 for me!)

They had to end the live and start a new one for subscribers only. Most of army is a lovely community and we try to emulate the BTS members who are very compassionate people, we have grown to a large fanbase but sadly so have the people who love to hate on BTS out of jealousy or just because they are so big now etc. It's just a precaution I'd like to suggest, hopefully there won't be any issue like that, real army try to follow BTS' example of being more positive, we love and respect all seven of the members. J-Hope get's out of the military sometime in October so I'm excited for him to be home soon.

Wanna add that it makes me appreciate Yoongi's old production vid even more, now that I have a much better understanding of what he was doing. Pretty sure it still didnt have subs last time I watched it either.

@@taracooper6024 Excellent point. Currently rewatching Break The Silence series on my Telegram Channel (Basically an ARMY Vault)...and I'm appreciative so much more of the little musical tidbit, watching them work.

My favorite bit to that was he immediately started singing the original song... ... Which is exactly what j-hope did when talking about it in an interview. Just a cute moment, that 😊

Fun fact... Teddy Riley was one of the main people that ushered New Jack Swing into K-Pop, he has written and produced for several K-Pop groups going as far back as 2012. Please take Varnell through the BTS journey chronological when you get there, he will flip hearing the development! You two are amazing in the way you play off each other and hold so much knowledge. Excited to follow this discovery. 💜

3:48 absolutely valid, i as music lover always face song as it is, listening to it, and for foreign songs or non English songs i have to like them sonically, then i read lyrics. Funny thing, somehow often the delivery of lyrics can tell me that lyrics are good without even reading them. This happened to me with bts a lot of times. Their emotional and acting ability is second to none, i cried my eyes out when i heard First Love by Suga for example

Thanks to Sleep and Varnell for taking time out of your busy schedules to react to another one of our boys projects. 💜 I just love this whole journey and I also love the new terms and details I'm learning about production because you guys are producers. It's so interesting and informative and I really appreciate it. Also shout to Sleep for the editing of this video, it's so cool💜 Varnell, welcome to the Bora house sir!😂💜 Safety Zone is my favourite song on JITB. The piano drives me crazy 😭 his voice on this song and just the pace of it. I just love it🥹

Also, thank you so much for taking the time to show us how the MPC works! That was so cool and really helped me appreciate more the artistry behind creating a whole song out of just a few secs of a recording. Can't wait to see Varnell's reaction to Hobipalooza! 💜

I really feel grateful for not only this album but also all of the bts rapline albums for introducing a new side of hiphop to me. I never knew why but I couldn’t identify with a lot of modern rappers, and since I am quite young I haven’t ever really experienced hiphop in it’s original form. So if it weren’t for them introducing me to oldschool rap I may have never even given the genre as a whole a chance. I feel like bts was the group that widened my horizons the most when it came to music, they were also the introduction to r&b and jazz for me, so by finding them I got closer to those genres as well! It’s really funny how these things work.
