"It is not our business to become involved in #slavery. Those are #social issues. We have been called to #preach the #gospel. We must deliver the Word. We must save people's #souls. We must not get involved in the issues of liberating people from the chains of slavery. If they accept #Jesus #Christ as their Savior, by and by they will be free - over there." - Tom Skinner quoting "the [strangely #silent ] #evangelical, Bible-believing, #fundamental, #orthodox, #conservative church" (from keynote address at #InterVarsity #Christian Fellowship's 1970 Urbana Conference)

So, if I was baptized Catholic as a baby, should I get baptized again? The church I attend now is nondenominational.

No. You should not be rebaptized. Baptism is Gods work. 1 Lord 1 Faith 1 Baptism - eph 4:5-6

Great question! Thx for asking. My position based on scripture and the oldest understanding of baptism from Church history I’d say it’s helpful to know that God baptizes us and that it’s His work, there’s no need for me nor anyone to get “re-baptized.” In fact, biblically, there’s no such thing as being “re-baptized.” The Bible says in Ephesians 4:5, there’s, “one Lord, one faith, one baptism,…”. God grants forgiveness and assurance through baptism, so my one time baptism that God performed, using human hands, regular water, & His word of promise, is good enough.

I was preparing to get Baptized for the third time a few years ago at the beach with my family. That is the norm in the evangelical world, many friends and family I knew growing up would be baptized each time they “got saved” again. Which is perfectly in line with evangelical theology which says Baptism is a work you do for God, immediately after you get saved. Therefore, if you are like most there are a few times where you get saved until it “sticks”. Anyway, God intervened and I happened to take a copy of Dietrich Bonhoeffers book called Cost of Discipleship with me on the trip. He’s a Lutheran who was murdered by the Nazis. I never made it into the ocean for a third baptism. I’m a Lutheran now and it is great not struggling guilt about what I should be doing for God but knowing with confidence what He has done for me. God bless and I’m praying for you.

Thank you all for your responses. I've been wondering about this for a while now and even signed up to get rebaptized a while back, and I have been told that I should. Great interview, Flame. Thanks so much for the insight.

Man, I understand what brotha flame is saying but it sounds like he’s conflating Calvinism with baptists theology, most reformed people (not baptists) I would say Presbyterian would agree with some of the points he’s making about the sacraments even tho we disagree on them

I went from 1689 baptists to Dutch reformed,3 forms of unity because of the issues brotha flame had with Baptist theology

"I believe in the teachings of #Christ, but you on the other side of the world do not, I read the #Bible faithfully and see little in #Christendom that those who profess faith pretend to see. The #Christians above all others are seeking after #wealth. Their aim is to be #rich at the expense of their #neighbors. They come among aliens to #exploit them for their own good and #cheat them to do so. Their #prosperity is far more essential to them than the life, liberty, and happiness of others." - Mohandas #Gandhi (probably the most #Jesus loving non-Christian in history) 🛐☮❤✝

It's a shame that Russell Moore has become a liberal progressive "Christian." He could have been a great servant of the Lord for decades more.
