Hip Depth Focus - Coxswain Recording

Ali Kolaga - UMass Rowing - Hip Depth Focus - 3/21/2023
Strengths:
- Content is majorly descriptive, thoughtful, and delivered complementary to the coaching feedback
- Tone on words like 'deep' and 'direct' is intentional and demanding without yelling
- This recording demonstrates how technical changes have to be cycled through to achieve a greater goal. Calling 'depth' is useless if the blade isn’t direct and the bodies aren’t up. Depth that isn’t flat is useless because it’ll disturb the force vector into the finish, and create different power curves into the finish. Talking about hip depth often means discussing all of the surrounding technical focuses and circling back to hip depth.
Weaknesses:
- Speed of delivery should continued to be s l o o o w e d down so my words can be more easily digested
- Usage of the word 'good' - isn't inherently a problem, but I can be more clear about what I am complimenting when I use it
- I can continue to work on quantifying technical adjustments (ex: get 1 cm deeper on hip depth vs increase hip depth)
