Hino 300 4x4 - Tough with good safety features

While the Hino 300 is classed as a light duty 4 x 4 truck it is not a soft-roader. It went through extensive testing in Australian conditions to ensure that it was well suited to our environment.
Hino Australia had a prototype truck for 3 years and did over 40000 km as a work vehicle for the Cook Shire Council in Far North Queensland. Cook Shire covers from Cooktown to the Jardine River in Cape York and has over 1600 km of unsealed road in their area.
The 4 litre diesel engine develops 121 kilowatts at 2500 revs per minute and 464 Newton metres of torque starting at 1400 revs per minute. The engine will go a maximum of 3100 rpm although with its new six speed gear box it only needs 2440 rpm to sit on 100 km/hr
The main fuel tank has 100 litres capacity while the auxiliary fuel tank behind it can hold an additional 70 litres of fuel.
The vehicle comes with both single and crew cab configurations and the good thing about the crew cab is that it has good air conditioning for the passengers in the second row.
Along with vehicle stability control every Hino 300 has anti-lock brakes, traction control and an exhaust brake.
By being tuned to handle the rough conditions it can be jarring for the driver but to help this it has driver seat suspension which is magnetically dampened.

What is the gross weight and toeing capacity of this vehicle?
I think if they add sleeper cabin it will be more good

While there is no standard for fuel consumption in the truck industry, a Hino test vehicle has indicated consumption of about 5km per litre.

COMPARED TO THE NORMAL ONES, NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE ON GROUND TO DIFFERENTIAL CLEAREANCE....SEEMS HIGH AS IT SITS ON DOUBLE CHASSIS.....STILL USES THE SAME TYRE SIZE AS THE NORMAL ONE!

What a load of shit in you saying every time road test a ute or a truck that someone wants you to move something for them. Those comments were petty and were not warranted. Just stick to the road testing these vehicles.

Robert, Robert, Robert, you big duffer (In Australia this is a term meaning you got it wrong but is said with endearment). The line about helping people move was meant to be humorous. In fact, whenever I test a van or ute I often asked my friends if they need anything moved. I think there is a place for some light-hearted reflections in vehicle reviews but perhaps not for all. All the best.
Fantastic sales story , but , very short on facts .your test driver is just a glorified sales man who knows jack about real world use of this truck . 1). Only about 30 ml of front suspension travel . 2). Front diff is overloaded ( twin cab ) with 7 (85kg) adult passenger before you put a tray on it, even worse if you need a FOPs structure on the tray you will be almost over weight with just the driver . The front diff and tyre ratings are not fit for purpose.. 3). Gearbox ratio spacing are shit between 2nd and 3rd need to peek out the engine in 2nd . 4). The hand grips on the dash are too close you can jam your fingers on the dash when sliding down . 5). And that’s just for starters I will have to spend thousands of $ to get this truck suitable for what I bought it for . 6) If hino are serious about making this truck a winner in Australia give me a call and I can tell hino how .

I might add that the competition is hardly any better reading their specs on their front axel weights

@@georgewhite6800 Hey mate how man km have you done in yours? I drive a 2wd one for work and at 33,000km I'm having dpf troubles and the brakes are fading pretty badly with 7k to go till next service. being a lease vehicle im expected to wait till 40k to do the brakes too...
