Hindutva vs Dravidianism: Why Tamil Nadu resists the BJP

With the Lok Sabha polls just around the corner, many in Tamil Nadu seem to perceive this as an ideological fight between Dravidianism and Hindutva.
The Dravidian ideology is based on Periyar EV Ramasamy’s teachings of social justice, equality and Tamil nationalism. Periyar, who is widely known as ‘Thanthai’ Periyar, is considered the father of the Dravidian movement. The Hindutva ideology, which is in stark contrast to the principles that Dravidianism stands by, is based on Sarvarkar’s idea of Hindu nationalism, wherein, he discredited Christians and Muslims of not being true Indians unless they renounce their faiths, which he claimed are not Indic.

I had thought the same until I saw meghalaya's election result last year, npp bjp coalition got majority seats...? It was shocking that people in meghalaya voted for bjp in huge numbers. Christians voting for bjp is plain stupid but it did happen in meghalaya.

BJP has a fundamental problem in its pre assumption. It thinks India as a single geo political block which is the same as that of the North. This is why it imposes Hindi language to be mandatory in all of India. It influences narcissistic hindutva ideology. I mean, in almost everything, typical Northern arrogance and prejudices always find their way in BJP politics.

Dravidian ideology did not arise as an opposition to Hindutva. It arose as a social justice movement which later on took additional goals such as opposition of Hindi imposition and the attempts at homogenizing Indian society with the culture of Delhi as the template. The INC gave up these things in the 70s although you can still see some older politicians from the Hindi belt still holding on to those old ideas. The same homogenizing tendencies exist in Hindutva as well. The Jana Sangh's slogan of Hindi Hindu Hindustan is still remembered in TN. There is no scope for the BJP at least for another decade in TN.
We will never entertain hatred ...so won't welcome divisional parties like bjp..

Tamil Nadu people are really knowledgeable when it comes to politics...They analyse and rethink several things...even when u r conversing with a commoner u can sense such a rational thinking...That is why even though tamilnadu being a land of temples and spirituality they still accept periyarism..because they have the clarity of understanding and take what's necessary for them and respect periyar's pov too...this is the level of clarity that exists

Sorry for asking a very dumb question but it sparked a debate in my head so please listen to it, I watched a Bassem Youssef interview and he said something regarding why casting a vote doesn’t really matter, and it casts an illusion of being able to help yourself by chosing a candidate. "He said what is the point of giving vote to someone who at the end of the day will just work for special groups that will pay them much more than I will ever pay him." On the other hand I do understand that voting is a privilege and we shouldn't ignore this right that our forefather's struggle has reaped so I should vote. But now the thing is what difference will it make?

North Korea has 100% literacy. Is it really education these parties are spreading or, propaganda disguised as social studies in school? Universities and Schools are no longer just academic institutions but a huge battleground of party politics and propaganda studies on both sides. This is a rampant problem in the West and India is gradually shifting towards that role.
