Just ordered one of these last week. Never thought I’d want a Hinderer but the blade shape got me. Looking forward to finally owning one.

This is the one Hinderer that own and enjoy it. Would like to add another with a different blade shape.

FINALLY, after 3 months of looking for a Gen 6 Bowie XM-18 3.5 with the blue/black G10 scales I finally found one and it’ll be here in the next week. I’m pretty excited! It was a little elusive finding one, but that just means not everyone has one in their pocket.

I like it, the uncle Randy in me loves a good clip point/Bowie , my dealer got a bunch of them in lately too.

I just got one of these off Facebook marketplace, never carried, brand new, in the box for $220. Mine has the bronze anodized frame and a green and black scale. I’ll be bragging about this for years. The guy was selling a bunch of knives to go to blade show and buy his grail knife. I was sure he would change his mind or sell to someone else before I could meet up with him. I pissed myself a little when he took the money and handed me the knife. So stoked.😀

You were correct in predicting the S45VN, I just ordered one with a Working Finish. My first Hinderer and I am STOKED!

Very cool blade imo. Harpoon spanto is sweet too. I think Hinderer should be paying you a commission for being such a loyal fan boy. I have to send in my xm-24 vintage in to Hinderer, it came with a small black spot on the blade. Hoping they'll be able to help me out.

Gotta say, I would absolutely love to try an XM-18 one day but if I do ever get the chance it won't be a bowie! To me the blade looks out of scale, like it's too short & small for the handle. To each their own, I think it's awesome that it comes in so many different blade profiles! The one which might get me to jump would be a skinny, slicer, non-flipper with textured dlc ti. As long as they don't make that, I can try to hold out against spending a months salary on a pocketknife. I've been out of the game since ~2005 and it appears that an XM-18 is the biggest thing that I missed! EDIT: I'd actually slightly prefer a spearpoint or a spanto but I don't know if they even make them! Maybe one day haha. Oh gawd, it just occurred to me that accepting the slicer is the first step to buying one. 😂

@@metal_complex You, sir, are an enabler! I can only find non flipper spearpoints for sale and they don't seem to be skinnies? Don't go out of your way though, much as I really do appreciate it, $700 Aussie is a bit much for me at the moment. :(

Do any of you harpoon guys ever find that harpoon nub getting caught and interfering when you're stabbing into something to cut it? I don't have one, just wondering if that ever comes up.

I'm Thinking of getting an XM18 soon, just don't know which blade shape to get try :/

Unless you have no other options I wouldn’t buy a Hinderer from Blade HQ unless you want to pay $25.00 in sales tax. The best places to buy Hinderer’s is DLT Trading & USA Made Blade there is a few others, but the bigger the dealer the more likely they will charge you sales tax. Sales tax aside you get much faster shipping and excellent customer service from USA Made Blade & DLT Trading... Money’s Edge is good, but they really have much in stock... (And Blade HQ will no longer honor any warranty services)

As cool as this knife is I can’t get into it. My last deployment I was issued a gerber gatror. This looks just like it and it gives me knife ptsd

"This is just going to be an overview" ...20 minutes later lol. I'm just kidding man. Its great that you cover the same basics of the model even when you have done it before. You never know when this might be the first (or only) XM-18 video a viewer ends up seeing.

Another Hinderer I’ll never be able own, but that’s ok in this case, as I’m not a fan of Bowie blades!

Beautiful knives him just not crazy about the pivot screw being a Flathead screw For a knife that expensive should be torx .. To me when I see a knife with a flat head for pivot reminds me a gas station knife Other than the pivot Love the way hinderers look

Why does it have to be torx just because its expensive? You can adjust this knife with a coin while you're out using it, which is something the average person is much more likely to have on them vs the correct torx bit. I think it makes perfect sense, but I'd take either. Some of Hinderer's knives actually do have a torx pivot.

@@metal_complex It doesn't have to be torx a just saying a flat head screw on a knife like that just makes the knife look cheap in my opinion.. And that's probably the reason most knife makers don't put flat head or Phillips screws on their knives it looks cheap

@jpolhamus71 You know Hinderers sell amazingly well, right? Lol. You're assuming your opinion is shared by the majority and it isn't. The buying audience Rick Hinderer is targeting are clearly not bothered by it. It might not look great to you, but they're gonna keep selling like crazy either way.
