This song, Better Than Me and Hinder in general have a huge impact on my life. My father left me and my mother when I was 7. Was incredibly stressful for us. But perhaps the worst of it was my mother's broken heart. I was really all she had, and I never left her. Any time I'd be with her when she was driving, she'd be playing Hinder, 3 Doors Down, Shinedown and lots of other artists who make these types of former love songs. Otherwise why would he have this picture ? why keep a picture of his ex while living with his new girlfriend ? isn't he afraid that his blond girlfriend will see it ? 5) Song lyrics : " LET HER DIE DON'T WANT TO SAY GOODBYE " he doesn't want to say goodbye. His ready to feed himself anything to justify her absence. Anything ! He doesn't want to acknowledge that she's dead. .... his state of mind is so focused to make this fiction real, that he even got the audience to believe that this a typical love triangle about unfaithfulness and betrayal. He got you to believe his dellusions, so it can be as real as possible. but THE TRUTH : SHE'S DEAD. "its funny that you're calling me tonight" : its funny because this the same day she died. It's the anniversary of her death. This interpretation makes the song more romantic, it's about the love you have for someone who died. He's not unfaithful he's actually very loyal to the girlfriend who died. Just look at his face expression his in severe emotional pain.

This song hits home. It was the early 2000s. I was stuck in an unhappy marriage. Although I wanted it badly, counseling was not an option for my spouse. I met someone through a friend who was also in an unhappy marriage. We leaned on each others shoulder. We were able to talk to each other. So much in common. Our friendship quickly grew into more than just friendship. We saw each other as often as we could. After 8-9 months, our spouses began to suspect something was going on. We both came clean with our spouses and divorces were in our future. Something happened and I got scared of another commitment. I broke it off. Fast forward 20+ years and we are both happily remarried (to other ppl). We remain good friends, but she will always be my "one that got away".

Austin Winkler, who was the former lead singer of the band Hinder said that the lyrics of their hit song entitled as ‘Lips Of An Angel’ is based on a true story. " My ex-girlfriend had called me while my current girlfriend was in the next room. Then when I was writing with Cody, I brought up this idea, and we kind of looked at each other. We realized we had a good song (in the making). Cody then came up with the chord progressions." Austin quoted. The lyrics deal with the singer describing his feelings when his favored girlfriend from his past calls late at night, somewhat pleasantly interrupting his current relationship. More than once, a reference to the call being secret is made, and the singer expresses concern of a fight ensuing as a result. The song concludes just as it began, with the singer questioning to why she is calling so late. However, at the end, it is less literal and more figurative, with the underlying meaning of "so late" not at night, but too late in life, perhaps adding an element of sadness to the song, as it ends with the plot unresolved.

Yeah. This song is more of a sad, depressing song disguised as a love song. In situations like this, no one is happy. The man is torn between the ex and the current girlfriend. The ex seems to keep calling the man and reminding him of the past either to torture him or because she hasn't moved on either. The current girlfriend is dating a man who hasn't moved on from his ex. It's a lose-lose-lose situation until either both members of the former couple move on, or the old couple get together while the man leaves the new girlfriend. Essentially, this song is like Romeo & Juliet in that it is a tragedy people mistake for a love story.
