Excellent performance, and I have always loved the piece
Fabulous. In about 1988, Gutman replaced David Garingas(or Daniel Shafran, I forget)for a performance of the second Shostakovich concerto with the Dallas Symphony. It was unbelievable, even in the acoustic barn that was the Fair Park Music Hall. She's incredible then and now. Thank you for sharing!

Have heard her too in that concerto, the orchestra was even covered by her:)
Brilliant interpretation!
She is a fantastic cellist.

Does anyone know where this recording is from? Did she record this sonata on any LP or CD? I haven't found it in her discography so far...
