"Discover the beauty of Himachal Pradesh's traditional dress in a "Fashion Show of Choti Kashi Mahotsav" held in Month of January 2023.
The Chhoti Kashi Mahotsav was celebrated with great fervor. District Administration Mandi organizes this event. It was celebrated after three years due to the Covid pandemic.
The event displayed a glimpse of the ancient tradition, culture and heritage of the district.
Local Theater and Music Groups presented Solah Sanskar and Luddi, a traditional dance of the district, during the festival. Krishna Wool Industry organised a fashion show while the Seraj Students Welfare Association performed the local Natti.
The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, Mandi, set up a stall of traditional dishes - Bhatabaru, Ghayor, Thansya (Dand Kadaka), Sagoti, Laddu, Chud Ka Saag, Kattire Gonda Ra Faluda, Bhalle Babru.
"The Choti Kashi Mahotsav in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, is an annual celebration of the region's rich cultural heritage. This year, the district administration of Mandi, led by Ritika Jindal IAS (SDM Mandi), added a new and exciting element to the festival: a traditional dress fashion show.
The fashion show was a showcase of the intricate and beautiful traditional dress of Himachal Pradesh, designed and conceptualized by OP Malhotra and Anshul Malhotra. The designers drew inspiration from the rich history and diverse culture of the region, incorporating traditional elements such as Phulkari embroidery and Kinnaur Kullu shawls into their creations.
The jewelry worn by the models was also an important aspect of the show. It was designed by Neha Vatsal, who used local materials such as silver and semi-precious stones to create stunning pieces that complemented the traditional dress.
The models for the show were students from ITI Mandi, DAV CPS Mandi, Indus Global School, and Boy School Mandi. They walked the runway with confidence and grace, showcasing the beauty of the traditional dress to the audience.
The fashion show was a huge success, with many visitors to the Choti Kashi Mahotsav expressing their admiration for the traditional dress and the creativity of the designers. It was a reminder of the importance of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh, and a celebration of the region's unique identity.
