Both Imps sounded sweet Andy. I bought Poppy from Ron back in 2009 and rebuilt to rally spec, but never got to turn a wheel in anger :( Are you still racing ??

I don't know if anyone has told you but, there is far more grip on the black than on the green.

I had a Hillman Imp in the early 80s. It could only do 50 m.p.h. tops. LOL

Evidence, not that it's needed for those of us who race, that track times mean nothing when it comes to racing enjoyment.

Nobody blips on down changes anymore ... weird, poor engines and driving wheels. Looks like a heck of a lot of fun though

poor mans porche my dad had two ........ we were poor ....... but happy.

andy i run a ginetta in the u s a, it had a so called c r box ,that dropped 2k between 3/4 gears,i noticed that you must have a dog box , which is what im building now , but im try to figure out the top gear as we have never had any data to go by , i see you use 9k to shift what do you pull in top oulton does have much straight , say snett for instance , if you dont want to post this info i understand

Think I saw nearly 10,000rpm at one point near the beginning - all from a 1950's design of engine.

'Kin ell fire - I thought you were never gonna get past that other imp!! ;-) I love imps - but I reckon they're best at rally - don't seem to have the straight line speed for track racing.

Great...bit stupid the start...why tangle with the red imp...equally why tangle...these are becoming rare cars. But it is great to see them racing still... Great video...👍👍👍👏

Some silly driving cutting onto the grass at the start and more patience would of allowed you to attack more on the straights but good vid all the same : )

@@thehillmanator and on a three bearing main crank. i never owned an imp. although there were a few in my neighborhood here on the other side of the pond. i recall seeing one with a flat tire and the frame was so stiff that when the owner jacked up the left rear corner the front left wheel was off the ground as well. it was a cool little car for a teenager. my friends had an austin a40 and a ford anglia, so i'm sort of familiar with brit econo boxes. thanks for the vid.
