Salem has my exact method of giving advice. First try to disuade them from their mistake and if that doesn't work just shrug and say "go for it then".

I always loved how Salem said “ok” “n’ykay”

I remember it being that both Hilda and Zelda were adopted, but they were adopted back into the spellman family because their mother had put them out on adoption before taking them back

Hilda & Zelda's sister (Vespa) was so jealous of the attention their parents gave them she turned their parents into pigs & since the other realm law was no animal could care for witches they were adopted out.

Vesta turned their parents into pigs so they were adopted until the spell was undone because they couldn't parent humans with hooves

I think sabrina was projecting a wee bit there with here situation with her own mother to be fair
