While on my way down to Texas, I spent my first night in Wichita and stayed back a few hours to catch their weekly Monday test. I was originally going to do T-104 at station 20, but Ashley convinced me to do this one instead. While the siren did activate and I did get a pretty good video, I was met by it being perhaps the most sickly refurbished Thunderbolt that has ever existed. The motor shop that was contracted to do the work on this siren must've screwed something up on all of the Wichita refurbs, because none of them sound all that great. I'd like to clarify that none of this is Cruz's fault, the person who did the refurbishments. The motor work was sub-contracted. Either way, it sounds absolutely hilarious. Seems like the brushes are worn out or not contacting good, that happened to me on an electric drill before since I didn't clean the brush holders before putting it back together lol
This is more sick than most naturally sick 'Bolts out there... that's how you know that motor refurbishment was EFFED up.

Oof. I really hope something gets done about that. I wonder if they even bothered seeing if the motor worked well after the "refurbishment". Also, any chance you could share tome tips on how you get your Tightshots to look so clean? Your videos are consistently clean and sharp looking, however mine don't always look so good. What do you do or not do to make them look so crisp? I'd like to increase the quality of my videos as I was very unimpressed with the quality of my latest recording.

Sounds like that other 1000 forgot which one it waa but the video of it ahows it against the sun and makes the siren head look black. Just the way it wavers sounds so much like it

The old Ortiz Elementary thunderbolt. It was a 1000T in its last years of service. Was replaced while back. Was also a jailbar.

Yes, I can admit... This 1000 looks like a BumbleBolt, sounds well... More like a Bumble bee lol! But I'm pretty sure a restored or fixed siren is not supposed to sound like a dirt bike... How did they mess up so badly? Use the cheapest brushes they could possibly find from right outta China?!

I thought it was the brushes but then I watched this again and with rethinking, it sounds like it has the worst bearings but it winds down just find so that can't be! If it's the windings right now and not the brushes, it won't be long till the magic smoke comes out. This thing is Napoleon 2.0 right here.

Crappy really really cheap brushes that probably came from a shlt factory in China and installed by ppI restoring it that don't know what they're doing. A combination of the two will mess up a poor siren big time.

No, Matt Perry wasn’t involved with the rebuild of this siren. I believe the motors were rewound by Eurton Electric in California

This is one I live near and have seen running and umm “BaCk In mY DaYs” this was a healthy siren that my dad used to work on (he retired so happy retirement dad!) but this used to be healthy and sound good but because these need high maintenance people just let them die which makes me sad
