The Pinnacles is an easy day walk (or overnighter) in Coromandel Forest Park. The Pinnacles Hut is the largest hut in New Zealand, with 80 beds. Starting at the end of Kauaeranga Valley Road, just outside Thames on the Coromandel Peninsula, this walk is completed in 1-2 days. I decided to make it a loop and followed the Tarawaere Dam Track from Billygoat Carpark up to the dam and then up to the Billygoat Basin Campsite. From here, I joined the Billygoat Track and followed this up to the hut and then on to the Pinnacles. After lunch at the hut, I returned down the much more popular Webb Creek Track to the roadend.
