Hiking Mt Owen and The Castle "The Budawangs"
A 3 day hike from the long Gully rest area up Mt Owen. around the back then through monolith valley to "The Castle".
This walk does not follow the regular walking track up to the castle.
we did come down that track.
this is a loop walk.
in the budawang wilderness area NSW Australia.
The shoe that was lost in the river was not mine it was lucky that klingon had a pair pair back in the car for the person who did loose their shoe.

Lucky the fire cleared the way for you. Amazing how much water comes off those plateaus - Ive seen full on waterfalls on the Castle in a downpour.
Only someone who has been there can appreciate what you've done... good job 😁
Amazing - noting like the budawangs to stop ya in your tracks. Great hike none the less. Owen is one of my favs in the park. love it cheers

Should be another term for this level of bush walking ..... "bush mountaineering" maybe. Good Job.

Budawangs is imo the most challenging place to hike in Australia, not many places that are so remote, challenging and moody as a temperamental budawangs. Although the rewards of getting in and out are special to say the least

@@blackllama1 so you didn't actually find the route up to top of Mt Owen?, fairly sure not that spot you pointed out as 5:12. There's a sign in book up there, if it survived the fires. Still that first cave looks great, but youve gone too far along on that ledge level at that point. Its a hazardous route, gee with water still flowing off the rocks I wouldn't be game.

@@freda5344 yes we were trying to go a different rout around the back.off track that one of my insane friends chose. We did not walk the normal way up.

Sorry that was filmed a while ago, I drove there to do the hike and it is around 6 hours from me. When I was there was just after the fires so I would expect that it will have a lot more growth around by now. The way I came down is the main way up.
