We wanted to do an easy hike in the Catskills, New York during one of our weekend stay. We especially wanted to do one of the 6 fire towers in the Catskills after reading and seeing photos of the majestic view the fire towers offer of the Catskills. We chose to do The Mount Tremper Fire Tower after reading it would be an easy hike up. We were just getting back into hiking and wanted a reasonal trail.
I must have read wrong, because it wasn't an easy hike up. It was in fact a more challenging, but well marked trail. The trail is near Phoenicia, and is about a 6 miles round trip trail, and mostly going uphill. The fire tower offers a 360 view of the surrounding area.
Make sure to bring enough water and snacks, and your hiking stick.
