Between varenna and the river, the greenway trail is separate from the road. The road does not have a shoulder to walk on during most of this time. Not sure if the footage from you walking on the road is north or south of the river though. The trail markings are very helpful, but one needs to pay close attention to them, I’ve missed many. The trail “below” the road, that you referenced (before varenna) is villa monastero I think.

Thank you for the video, it is very entertaining and the views are beautiful. I am planning to hike from Varenna up to Dervio on the Wayfarer’s Path (Sentiero del Viandante). May I know how long it took you to hike on your video and any tips regarding taking the train back to Varenna please. ( is it easy to purchase tickets?) Much appreciated.

Thank you so much for watching! There is an info point in Varenna where I got a map and all the information considering hiking time and trains. She said the hike to Bellano takes a couple of hours but with making all the videos and admiring beautiful places it took me 3 :D train tickets are easy to buy. There are ticket booths or kiosks where you can buy tickets and they cost couple of euros. Your trip sounds great! The views should be awesome!
