Hong Kong’s first and longest hiking route, the MacLehose Trail, was opened on October 26, 1979. It was named after the city’s longest-serving colonial governor, Sir Murray MacLehose, an avid hiker who established the city’s country parks. In 2016, the 100km (62 mile) path was listed as one of the world’s best hikes by the National Geographic Society. This year, the beloved trail was embraced by even more hikers amid the Covid-19 pandemic, which caused border closures and the suspension of travel. Follow in the footsteps of Mark Agnew, South China Morning Post reporter, to explore the stunning and spectacular views on Hong Kong’s most popular hiking trail.

As a Hong Konger, I never knew our amazing city have such a beautiful view even at noon or in the morning
Still being amazed by the stunning views even I’ve been living in this place since I was born❤️ did half of the different sections separately and still looking forward to finish all someday:)
Hong Kong has lots to see and explore and have adventures and journeys and fortunes
I regret that i never made any attempt to do the entire trail when i was living in HK as I wasnt quite into hiking then; only did some short ones. I've since trekked in the Himalayas and south east asia. MacLehose trail is now in my bucket list.
Thank you for introducing this stunning trail. Very informative indeed.
Hong Kong is one of the best cities in the world for hiking. There may be over a hundred interesting trails around the city.
HK is one of the best place on earth !!
Just beautiful.
Really informative! Thanks for sharing❤
Why so less views? This is so great for people who crave for traveling, but has to stop due to the pandemic. HK off-beaten track, that's my travel style. Such feast for the eyes.

Miss you tuen mun
is there a place you can sleep overnight and the continue the next day to finish this trail the next day? 100 miles in a day is most likely too much what with the hills and time wasted in admiring the views. i want to do this trail. do you have to pay an entrance fee?

@@josephbenjaminbolinao7747 it is free. Most people do a section or two each time. Transportation is convenient there.

It's all free as mentioned, there are multiple entrances and exists at different stages, thought have to hike a bit again up to reach beggining of the trail again. You can 100km in few goes simply by bringing food and tent with you, there are various locations for camping/toilets with water, but check their spots in advance so you could plan ahead your long hike. 🙌
😍🇲🇺
What's the name of the music?
Quick tip, don't try to actually finish the whole section 1 and 2 in a day in summer 💩
