Hiking the amazingly beautiful Croda Da Lago circuit trail in the Italian Dolomites together with my wife. This was Day 7 of our Dolomite 2023 expedition and supposed to be sort of a rest day.
We start in the town of Pocol and then go to the trailhead no. 434 of Ponte Pezie de Parú (~1500m) From there the forest trail ascends fast, but not much else going on view-wise. After reaching the fork, we continue on the path to Lago Federa while enjoying the beautiful vistas and soon reach Rifugio Palmieri (2046m) for the traditional espresso and strudel.
We carry on along an easy path to Forcella Ambrizzola (2277m) with stunning views of Cortina d'Ampezzo down below and the Dolomite giants Antelao (3263m) and Sorapiss (3205m) on our left. After a quick lunch break, we go to Forcella de Formin (2462m), where our paths diverge, because I decide on a quick and unplanned uphill extension to Ponta Lastoi de Formin (2657m). The terrain feels a little bit like walking on the Moon and featuring incredible sights of the majestic peaks all around.
After taking in the sights, time for a steep downhill along the route, reaching the forest and the previously mentioned fork in the road.
This is a completely amateur video - first time I've tried filming with GoPro, and in hindsight there's just so many shots that could've been done better.
