Heya another episode! I'll leave a comment as a local (I'm from Nordeste) and Forest Ranger. During your hike down to the Fire Lagoon at 2:33, 80% of the plant species around you are endemics, they only exist in the Azores! Also at Caldeira Velha, i'm not sure if you took a bath on the waterfall you blured out the people, I'm 29 but i remember when iw as 14, 15 years ago, when there was no "Tourism Boom" and everything was almost empty, including those special nature spots, that that waterfall water was hotter then it is atm, i think it is because the thermal zone it is going out from is exhausting unfortunatly.

Hello to Nordeste! :) thank you for your interesting insights! Interesting how quickly such a place can change. The water in the pool with the waterfall at caldeira velha was lukewarm. The pool further down was super hot though. No, it was too much like a human soup for me to go into those pools ;) way too crowded for me.

Very nice video. And well edited. For me, Lagoa do Fogo is one of the most impressive places at São Miguel. We didn't go all the way down to the lake so it was interesting to see your journey down. It's a pity (for you) that the weather wasn't a bit sunnier. Luckely your camera picks up clouded/rainy weather well. On the other hand, we were there in summer (2018) and the weather was quite cloudy most of the time. You never know what kind of weather you're going to get on the island.

Thank you! Yes I agree. To me it was one of the most impressive places as well! The weather seems to be mixed there all the time, although it does get a bit better as well :)

This is my favorite of your Azores videos - I really enjoy your chatter and the way that you explore. We're planning on going to the Azores so I found your videos in those searches. Thank you for sharing your experience, it was sooo lovely.

Love the way you film and capture most things that people just miss. You are very much the 'anti-instagrammer' of sorts who is only interested in getting the one view that everyone else also gets. You catch all of it, and you notice the little bits of nature that 90% of people simply walk by. Your videos makes us feel like we are actually there as part of your journey. The only thing that I feel wasn't covered was how all that 'green' smells! (Well, aside from the sulphur smelling areas that you described). I remember being there almost 30 years ago, and the smell was very 'fresh'. It looks like it would smell the same today as it did back then. So nice to see the areas you meticulously record being as clean as it used to be - I never saw even a single tiny piece of garbage anywhere that I visited. Thanks for bringing back some strong memories. Simply capturing the one or two viewpoints that you see in many other videos does not bring back those memories, but your video series has. Future suggestion - Banff/Jasper/Kananaskis/Kootenay/Waterton/etc - Tons of provincial and national parks here in the western side of Canada to explore. Some of these parks are basically the size of some entire countries, so if you like forests, you will love it here. Just avoid the bears :)

Thanks for your informative and inspiring videos. We are going to Sao Miquel in the spring and this helps a lot in our preparation and fun in the process leading up to that moment. Is there somewhere where we can see the routes in detail and perhaps even the GPX records? Ig Komoot or another platform? Thanks and keep up the good work!

ETC...DID YOU TRY CHUP CHUP YELLOW PLANT S ? The first part was relatively short distance wise but it took me forever to complete. The trip down the crater and back was around 6km which took me 5 hours. The second part of the trip was around 15km and that also took me 5 hours because of the many stops for filming and taking pictures and breaks :)

I have a commercial photography/videography background and I am located in a country with very strickt privacy laws (Germany). So I am used to taking the safe route. Also some people are really uncomfortable to be on camera when they didn't consent. I am trying to find a fair middle ground, by blurrig people that are in focus and not others that are far enough away. It is difficult :D Let's see how long my patience for this sort of thing will last.
