Hiking a Loop Trail in Two States | Montana and Idaho | Blossom Lakes, Pear Lake, and Revett Lake

"The Blossom Lakes, Pear Lake, and Revett Lake Loop Hike.." So creative.. Or should we call it the "Multi-State Loop Hike?" Help me out you guys 😊
Today's video takes place in both Idaho and Montana and was hiked on August 28th, 2022. I made this loop up a few year back before the KZread channel was even a thought in my mind, and hiked it with a friend. Back then, we made it into Pear Lake with the initial intent to hike out to the trailhead as an "out and back" style trip. We decided we wanted to get on top of the peak that overlooked Pear Lake for the views, and cross-country climbed our way up to it not knowing there was a perfectly good trail close to the lake shore. Once at the top, we found a nice trail that went along the state line and to our surprise we were able to make it to Revett Lake that day. From there, this loop hike was born and in this video Lolly and I tackled it and seized the day. Lower Blossom Lake was also the first mountain lake I ever hiked into with my family back in 2008.
Thank you guys so much for watching. Be sure to leave a thumbs up on the video, comment down below and subscribe to the channel!

Thanks so much, Darla! I actually did this loop a year or so before I made the KZread channel, and made this loop up completely by accident. We cross-countried to the peak above Pear Lake one morning, and the plan was to hike back to the trailhead from there taking the same route that we came in. We had no idea that there was an actual trail on the ridgeline, and that was actually the state line. We decided from there to take the trail to Revett, and the loop was born! I always appreciate your comments and your continued support to the channel. Cheers!!

Sweet!!! We love the North Idaho adventures!!! I don’t think Lolly moved a muscle during the entire time of the intro, except for some breathing!!! She looked pretty warn out!!! Now that is the sign of a great day!!! 😊 I love that area so much!!! It is one of my favorite areas out there. We loved the videos you have done in that area. I remember the hike with you and Tessa when you ran into the abandoned truck on that logging road. I think that was the same area. So many videos, I may have confused that location, but I do remember the area. I have researched the area myself and can’t wait to go there!!! Oh, that is so cool seeing the lakes on each side of the ridgeline!!! I remember you two exploring several of those lakes and, if I recall, you guys stopped at a local watering hole at the end of the trip for some local ale. Again, my memory maybe faulty here, but I think Tessa tried a sip of your IPA. Those trails are gorgeous!!! What a beautiful day for an adventure!!! Lolly looked ready for a busy day. Wow, we can’t believe how big she is gotten!!! And wow, is she well behaved!!! You guys did an amazing job training her!!! We never get tired of looking at that sea of pines!!! And those lakes, we never get tired of looking at those either!!! Insanely gorgeous and breathtaking!!! Lower Blossom looks like a perfect place to have a lunch and enjoy the scenery!!! We got a kick out of Lolly going into the water. My Mom noticed she seems to like the water more now. We think she liked it before, but she seems less afraid. I am not sure afraid is the right word, but she looks more comfortable around it. Oh Wow!!! Sounds like the other hikers ran into a sasquatch or something big 😊. Their dogs are really barking and howling up a storm!!! Looked like Lolly wanted to join the fun!!! That is so awesome!!! Thanks for sharing that fact!!! Great family shot!!! Awesome job recreating the shot!!! We see you have your trusty dog at your side!!! Except for being a bit older, not much has changed!!! Did you come from a family of outdoors people, or did you develop that interest on your own? I was thinking the Golden Hill trail in Sandpoint was going to be our first hike, BUT this will definitely be our first mountain lake adventure!!! Oh MAN!!! Thanks so much for the shout out!!! You mentioned you got a few things for Lolly when you responded and said thank you. Glad to hear you were able to put it to good use!!! You are so very welcome!!! THANK YOU for all the wonderful adventures you bring us, we cannot tell you how much we enjoy them and how much they mean to us!!! That shot at the 3:49 mark is spectacular. The sky is so blue, the pines in the background and the water in the lake is a beautiful color blue. I wish I was there now!!! So glad you are still doing your walk by shots. Your videos are awesome without them, but those shots really add an extra “umph” to the video. Your shot placement is always right on. There is something about the distance you choose and the angle that really makes them stand out!!! Those trails look amazing. Those tall pines and the grass on the ground remind me of being in a movie!!! OMG, the backdrop at Pear Lake was breathtaking!!! That exposed rock looks so awesome!!! I am pretty sure I blew through my use of exclamation points for this video, but I can’t help it!!! As gorgeous as it looks on the video, I can only imagine it is better in real life!!! Hehehehehehe, major chuckle when Lolly jumped in the water and decided, Mmmmm, maybe another time!!! Oh, that shot at the 4:57 mark did a great job capturing the lake. What a great place to stop and take a break!!! Lolly was so well behaved when you were putting on her Air Jordans. 😊 That was some pretty rocky terrain for sure!!! I think there are less rocks in a rock factory than on that trail!!! Wow, that really looked cool. I hate to be the guy who gets excited about a ton of rocks, but dang, that looked awesome!!! Whoa!!! That shot looking down on Pear Lake looked awesome!!! We cannot get over the amount of tree covered mountain ridges we could see. It seems like they went on for days!!! WOW!!! Drone footage!!! Whaaaaa hooooo!!! I do not know how far a person can see before the curvature of the earth kicks in, but my God, it looks like you can see for 50 miles from there. It looks amazing on the big screen. If KZread had a stat for how many times a person hit pause while watching a video, you would win an award!!! Your drone footage is insane, gorgeous, breathtaking, we are speechless!!! Two lakes surrounded by a carpet of green for as far as the eye can see!!! That ridge walk you did was awesome!!! Man, great views everywhere you look!!! Upper Blossom looks picture perfect!!! Have you ever been down there before? I do not recall if that was in your previous video. I cannot believe how many mountain lakes you have out there. It is like they grow on trees 😉. Cool shot of the state marker!!! It sounds crazy, but I totally want to visit that!!! Following the state line is an AWESOME trail. Lolly looked thirsty for sure!!! Oh man, this video was insane without the drone footage, but you crushed it by adding it. Most people would lead with that, but for you it is just a nice supplementary add on. It is crazy spectacular!!! Glad you got your license!!! We could watch that footage for hours. At first my Mom thought that was ice on the lake at the 9:17 mark, but we realized it was the reflection of the sun on the entire lake. Very cool!!! Lolly crossed that tree like it was land!!! You did a great job navigating through all the brush. Not sure how you found your way to Revett Lake. All those lakes are just so beautiful, each in their own way!! The sun shining on the water with the sea of pines in the background was jaw dropping!!! Even the logging road was beautiful. There are SO MANY trees, we cannot get over it. Agree completely, Lolly will be an amazing trail dog!!! She enjoys it as much as you do, you can tell!!! Hehehehe, the zoomies!!! This would be the trail I would take someone on if they came to visit us. It would blow anyone away. My brother lives in AZ and he would fall over if he saw how beautiful it is out there!!! Love the data you give at the end of your videos. I know how far I will need to go and what altitude I will need to deal with. I need to start training now! Your videos always put me in a great mood, but this one put me over the top!!! We CANNOT wait to get out there!!! The season is nearing the end. I am not sure if you have any more videos planned this year. If not, what a great way to end the year!!! If so, we cannot wait to see the next one!!! Be safe and stay well!!!

North Idaho adventures for the win! I really need to do more of them in your guys' honor. Haha Lolly was beat for sure by that point. I swear your memory is better than mine when it comes to this video! You're absolutely right. You're referring to the Stevens Peak Loop video. It was hard to identify, but I actually believe Stevens Peak could be seen from the top of Pear Peak in this video. Cool stuff! And yes! We stopped by Radio Brewing in Kellogg, ID on the way home from that one for a brew and a burger.. 🍔 Some darn good stuff right there, and per usual Tessa did not enjoy my beer. The trail on this hike was very well maintained, until we went off-trail of course. Lolly did very good and I was proud of her. I need to take her on more of those hikes because it gives me a couple of days of "Mellow Lolly." Thanks for the nice comment about her training. We've tried really hard and can be pretty tough on her at times.. She is a pill and will test the boundaries all the time. She's a great dog! Lower Blossom would be a great spot to setup a picnic at! That lake itself would make for a great day trip. Haha yeah Lolly has become a water dog which I'm really excited about! I should say that she only enjoys water when it's not ice cold. I'm sure you remember the PeeWee Falls Paddleboard video (I remember now that this is also not a hiking/backpacking video) when she jumped off the paddle boards? Well, we took her out a couple more times and now she jumps off the paddle boards and will swim for hundreds (not exaggerating) of yards at a time before climbing back on to the boards. It's pretty fun to watch. Yeah I'm not sure what those dogs saw or what spooked them. Something definitely raised their attention. I'm always weary of mountain lions and bears. Aha the good ol' family photo! That was the only mountain lake that I can remember hiking into with them, but it hooked me. I thought it was only fitting to bring another pup along! I'd say I came from a fairly outdoorsy family, but it wasn't entirely that. My parents had a large friend group that consisted of hikers, campers, hunters, etc.. And so I had a lot of influences growing up that kind of sparked the interest. I hunted a lot as a teen, and then it kind of developed into hiking/backpacking. Yes! This would be a great first Alpine Lake adventure! You're absolutely welcome for the shout out!! You and your mom have supported the channel more than I could ever ask for, and for that I am incredibly grateful. The dog bowls are such an awesome addition to our adventures with Lolly! Thank you again for the Super Thanks a couple of days ago!! Thanks for the nice comment about the walk-by shots! I think I'll probably continue with using them. No going back now!! Oh man if you ever make it to Lower Blossom you at least have to make it to Pear! That would be a big day for a day hike, but well worth the effort.. it is worth it! The back drop is insane!! Yeah that was the first real time Lolly got to wear her Air Jordans! She tolerated them well, but got the insane zoomies as we were hiking up above Pear Lake. She went crazy later in the video at Revett Lake, went off trail, and actually lost one of her boots! Darn Dogs 😂 I'm not sure if the boots were completely necessary, but the last thing I wanted was for her paws to get banged up halfway through the hike. Glad you enjoyed the shots looking down at Pear! It's always awesome to hear how much you guys love the millions of trees in the backdrops of some shots. It's what I've always known, and so it makes me appreciate it more. Thank you for the comment on the drone footage!! I don't get to use a lot of that stuff anymore, so I was overly excited to snag some footage that day! I have actually never been into Upper Blossom Lake before! I did this loop one time before the KZread channel was made, and that was when I first created it. Making routes is a blast! You should definitely try to find that state marker! I think there are others if I can recall correctly. That was the only one I found that day, however. That reflection over the lake was really bright!! It's always cool seeing where the sun hits differently. Thanks! It was a pretty easy route to follow. There is definitely a lot of bush whacking however, which made me wish I had worn pants. Maybe you'll have to take your brother here!! I really really appreciate, and am grateful for all the positive feedback on this video! It means the world! I'm glad the videos put you in a good mood, and the fact that you watched it four times.. man, thank you! I'm hoping to get out another time or two! With the snow, it may push us into the lower elevation places but we'll see what we can do. Until then, I'll see you both on the next video! Cheers from North Idaho! -Danny

@@DannyJSchaefer We love all your adventures, but we really love all the North Idaho adventures because those are the places we want to visit once we are out there, and it is like we are getting a personalized tour from an expert hiker!!! Ah, Stevens Peak, I plan to watch that one again, just to get a refresher 😊. We will definitely stop off at Radio Brewing afterwards!!! It will be a great way to end a great hike!!! Hehehehe, “Mellow Lolly”!!! She is young and full of energy for sure!!! I just realized her birthday is pretty soon, isn’t it? Did we miss it? OMG, I bet watching her paddle around was super fun to watch!!! All that swimming will definitely take some wind out of her sails!!! That might be the only time you guys get a chance to rest!!! Speaking of mountain lions, I saw a video on YT of an elk hunter encountering one recently. It was in Idaho of all places. That sucker was stalking him and if he didn’t have a sidearm, I don’t think it would have ended well. You probably saw the video already, but if you have not you may want to check it out. I am not sure I would have let it get that close to me before firing the first shot and I would not be firing any warning shots!!! I am not sure if he fired warning shots or his adrenaline kicked in and he just missed, but it was definitely a scary situation. I am going to tell everyone I take on that hike, it is called the “Danny Schaefer Hat Trick”!!! Visit 3 lakes in one trip! Glad you are continuing the walk by shots! We know they add more time and energy to the hike, but they really make a big impact on the video. It is still hard to believe it is just you doing all the filming!!! Oh no, too bad Lolly lost one of her Jordan’s!!! It’s bad that it happened, but it must have been funny to watch her darting all over the place!!! She must have been like a kid in a candy store!!! Those trees are gorgeous. If you counted all the trees I have ever seen in person in my entire life, it would not add up to all the trees in that video!!! With all the flying restrictions and the additional gear and weight, taking the drone on an adventure is a lot of extra effort, but wow, does it look awesome!!! We always appreciate seeing that footage!!! Oh really, wow. We may have to visit Upper Blossom and send you the video OR more likely to happen is you hearing a news story about lost hikers trying to visit that lake. 😊 You are very welcome!!! Wow, it is great to hear there may be more videos this year!!! Excellent!!! We will definitely be watching!!!
