@@Vea800 White has no moves but to take the queen. Once queen is taken its stalemate. King can't move up because of the pawn and thus has no waiting moves.

@@Vea800 White's queen is pinned to the King, and the only other square next to the queen is attacked by black's pawn, so White must either move the King away from the queen, losing the queen and the game, or move the Queen on the diagonal towards the black Queen. If white doesn't take, black takes and wins, if white DOES take, it's stalemate as the black King will not be attacked and black will have no legal moves. White went from a winning position to at best a draw.

once the kingside pawns have started rolling, you get the classic pawn chain and the knight sacrifice ...Nxe4!! Hikaru played against Gelfand, is a fairly well known theme in this KID line. I remember this very nice game by Hikaru also quite well....it was played in Amsterdam if I'm not wrong. it's in my King's Indian analysis file. nothing too alien about having a phantastic memory.

@@filyboy7 Yes, I guess you are right, in English, I guess it's called stalemate, I am not sure, but the term stalemate is more about the general situation itself, not about the king precisely. In Brazil, when this happens, we call a drowned king. In modern chess means a draw, but old chess considered winning by placing the enemy king in that position.
