I'm a huge fan of his videos and was ecstatic to see he was turning highway scrap into ingots. I'm currently working on collecting scrap I can store for future melting when I finally get enough workspace for it. But I want to do the same thing he's doing in this video.

I love that you did a flat bottom on this one I personally like it a lot.
Whole new segment on trash picking and recycling, great idea. Keep Australia beautiful.
a puppy video and burning money, this video is amazing already

You sure took off like a ROCKET 🚀 when you found those metal extrusions on the highway LOL 😆

Free scrap! Who doesn't like that? I pick it up when i find it! You got right of salvage there buddy! lol Melted nice, and poured surprisingly well! 2 tries isn't bad, really. Came out great! I suspect you'll have a hole or 2 drilled in an enclosed steel mold before too long. One with a nice hasp on it to keep it closed while pouring! :D Thanx for the shiny bars D!

Great video lad. Melting scrap copper, aluminum, zinc, tin and brass is the best Bullion Bar hobby you did in you whole life. Useless coins and game tokens from a flea market is a great one to melt also.
From ugly scraps to magnificently beautiful ingot, great job :D

I teach a metallurgy class, and I take it and let the students melt stuff,.it's a blast, going to try that last brass one you did with the faucets, mix it with aluminum cans and let make alubronze. Should work ok, yes?
@bigstackD
5 жыл бұрын
Honestly not sure if that will work I haven’t mixed just brass and aluminium that I can remember but if you want to make aluminium bronze and you have copper that colour is absolutely awesome if you do 7% aluminium by 93% copper by weight you’ll get a beautiful golden colour . If you mix too much aluminium with the brass it will probably become very brittle the same is if you mix too much aluminium with copper It’ll be so brittle it can just break with a light hammer hit . But I am all self taught so definitely take everything I say with a pinch of salt👍🏻
Fascinating, could watch all day!

How come you dont use your keg foundry anymore?
@bigstackD
5 жыл бұрын
Hey winter I don’t use the keg foundry any more as the external size of it is too big and bulky where the chamber size is exactly the same as my 10 kg devil Forge.And the devil Forge heat efficiency is twice as good. Although personally I love the look of the keg furnace it’s just quicker and easier to use the devil Forge, Plus I would need to put new refractory in it and it would just be super heavy to move😁👍🏻
@BipolarRaven
5 жыл бұрын
@@bigstackD I'm actually making a keg forge as we speak The last one I made would heat up and 8 kg crucible and contents in 9 minutes It would be 20 minutes if I didn't coat it with ITC 100 HT But if you caught the walls and the crucible with this you will chief much higher temperatures and much faster heating
