bhai i have dowloadea gta sa compressed zip of 900 mb after unziping i got proper game file and the game is of around 4 gb which is normal size and it do not crass some people do genuine gob i have more than 5 antivirus i keep them disabled and i do not turn off microsoft defender i have checked the game files with all of my antivirus no one shows any thing and it also show cutscenes and everything like a proper game

I also download compressed game but i will check that the download links will be gdrive or mediafire mega or file locker etc i never face such problems

I still remember the shopkeeper at the place where I used to get my psp games sold me a highly compressed set of games (so that buyers can fit more games in memory card and they can get charged more money for more games) one of them was god of war chains of Olympus and every cutscene in that game was replaced by one short cutscene, it ruined my whole gameplay of god of war, other game was GTA Liberty City Stories where every 5 second... Then game would heavily lag for 1 second and no matter what you do that would repeat... Bro it depends upon from where you download the game like if you download from reliable sites like dodi, fitgirl, or el amigos etc then you dont have to worry as they have a really high reputation in this field and adding malware only cause decline on their reputation. As your 'performance decline' argument is concerned, many pirated games like resident evil village have better performance than the original beacuse they lack denuvo which is used for anti piracy by devs and is known for causing performance issues.
