HIGHLIGHTS | Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal (0-2) | North London derby delight!

A superb first-half display saw us record a first league double over Tottenham Hotspur since 2013/14 and more importantly move us eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Things started perfectly when a bizarre own goal from Hugo Lloris put us in front after just 14 minutes, and that lead was doubled on 36 minutes when Martin Odegaard fired in from long-range.
We required some fine stops from Aaron Ramsdale to keep our lead intact on either side of the break, but his heroics between the posts ensured we claimed a first victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the fourth attempt, and our first success in the league at Spurs since 2014.
The first half was one that Gooners around the world would have savoured as we enjoyed complete domination over our rivals, with the majority of the first 45 played in and around their box.
Eddie Nketiah had a good early chance when Gabriel Martinelli pressured Hugo Lloris into a poor clearance and the ball was clipped back into the striker, who watched it come down onto his foot before striking but the Spurs keeper made the block.
However the Frenchman wouldn’t be so lucky on 14 minutes. A long ball from Thomas Partey released Bukayo Saka down the right, but when he got into the box the angle was tight. That meant his cross-shot should have been easily collected by Lloris, but instead he inexplicably fumbled it beyond his own goalline to hand us the lead.
Three minutes later, that was in jeopardy when Ramsdale was forced to produce the first of his excellent saves when he used his feet to deny Heung-min Son after he was slipped in, but we kept pressing for a second and Lloris made a more positive contribution when he did well to push away a long-range effort from Odegaard.
He was left clutching thin air soon after when Partey smashed a volley from around 25 yards with tremendous power, which fizzed towards the top corner but the post denied one of the great derby day goals.
A two-goal lead wouldn’t have flattered us at that point, and eventually it arrived on 36 minutes. As he had too often in the opening half, Odegaard was given too much time and space to get a shot off, and his drive from outside the box flew into the bottom corner to net his eighth goal of the season.
We were indebted to Ramsdale again though in first-half stoppage time when on a rare foray forward, Harry Kane saw a clever header spin towards goal but his England international colleague showed great reactions to push it away and maintain our healthy lead going into the break.
Unsurprisingly, Antonio Conte’s team came out fired up and began causing us much more problems, and Kane again tested our number one when he turned and fired goalwards, forcing Ramsdale into flying stop.
Two minutes later he was called into action again when Ryan Sessegnon scampered down the left and got into a shooting position but Ramsdale got a toe to his effort which was enough to deflect it past his far post, and Dejan Kulusevski bent a shot just wide as the hosts pressed hard to get back into the contest.
With us in control of the scoreline, we didn’t venture forward as much as in the opening half but there was a great chance for us to put extra gloss on the win when Nketiah was put through one-on-one by Granit Xhaka but Lloris made himself big to smother the chance, but two goals were enough to ensure the north London bragging rights remained with all Gooners.

Holds on to the ball for too long you may say. But again you can see the amount of space he creates for his teammates the moment he is able to find that pass. He drags two three players along . Even in tight corners, his teammates hz so much trust in him..they know he's not gonna loose the ball easily.

Ramsdale, Xhaka, Partey, Zinchenko, Ødegaard all excellent. MOTM between Ramsdale and Partey for me. A bit shaky at times 2nd half but we weathered the storm. What a feeling, North London is RED!!

Yup, got lucky and got to go to one of their practices and a match. I got a Gabriel Jesus picture but not a sign, but I got 5 signs, there sporting manager (forgot name😭), Saka, Martenelli, Gabriel, forgot the other
The fluidity in the team, constant reset in case one person fumbles is how the long game is played. This win is the cherry on top but the continuous great performances are the whole star menu🔥
Gary Neville says we’re finishing third. I really hope Arteta uses that to motivate the team and we can shove it down his throat when we win the league. With or without any signings this month. What a time to be an Arsenal fan 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Ødegaard is becoming World Class right before our very eyes. Wonderful performance from Ramsdale, just reminded everyone why he benched Leno even after coming from an relegated side. So happy to be an Arsenal fan right now. I think the way Man U, City and Chelsea have been spending it makes it look like Arsenal aren't spending that much, and the main reason that the net spend is so high is because Arsenal haven't been selling their players which is a serious problem. Objectively looking at it you need to remind yourself that Chelsea's defenders in total cost them just as much as the entire Arsenal team and the funniest part is that the only one actually doing well is the only one who came in for free
Arsenal is playing some absolutely scintillating stuff at the moment not an Arsenal fan but can't help appreciate and respect what Mikel Arteta is doing with this team, the camaraderie, the team spirit, the desire to win, the passion from the players.. This is what creates champions...

The key players of Arsenal really put up a majestic performance. Thomas Partey and Granite Xhaka controlled the midfield. Odagard was sensational again with all his deft touches. Defensively, they were all up for it as well. Eddie Nketiah, despite not scoring, put up a relentless effort on both ends of the field. This is probably one of their best performances this season due to the all rounded display.

I'd say that 2nd goal by Ode had a big touch of magic-to-his-feet too, Saka's goa went by the goalie in a rather lucky way, but Ode's was a pure beauty of a sniper-shot

Crucial win, we won a game we must have to win to be a champion 🏆 🥇. Happy for the players and the fans. Loved these coaches, as I always praised them so far.
Odegaard's scintillating shot from outside the D left the Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris dazzled. He is leading from front and doing wonderful job in midfield. Saka is creating waves through right flank and and posing constant problems to opponents. Aaron Ramsdale in top form and kept the slate clean for Arsenal by making crucial saves.
Zinchenko was a beast today. Damn!

Ødegaard continues to step up in big games this season. He has been vital when the rest of the team look tired and deflated. His scoring numbers at this stage of the season are reaching Lampard levels for a midfielder, and I still feel like he could shoot more often and get even more goals.
All those years of pain and loyalty are finally paying off!!
It’s been a long time coming😢 The club I feel in love with watching with my grandpa over 20 years ago, some tough seasons over the years but he’s looking down at this team proud!
Old arsenal fan from the 90s who stopped watching the EPL due to life right after the Invincible team broke up. Seems i finally got my life back together at the right time.
I watched the match but I just come here to watch these highlights over and over again . So proud of our boys . Everything just feels right.

An excellent performance especially that 1st half... You could see in the later stages we needed some subs sadly our squad depth is very thin.. One game at a go & the years of pain may come to an end in May... Had that Partey shot got in....

Great performance from the boys. This was a must win game and we did it soo well. Odegaard is just magic💫. I mean he's a fantastic player and has always put on great performances when he steps unto the pitch. We were sloppy at times with Partey but he still controlled the midfield and had a tremendous effort on goal. Man Of The Match has to go to Aaron Ramsdale, he was just superb in goal and made about 3 or 4 brilliant saves. He really took all the pressure from the Spurs attack and did soo well with his saves. I still think we need a striker in order to be more comfortable about winning the league. Nketiah wasn't clinical at all and we've seen it a lot, he won't score the goals that will win us the games we need all the time. But we did great today and we just have to keep improving. Big Ups to Super Mik Arteta, would love to see him win the EPL and have more success in England and Europe💯❤️
The composure he shows when receiving the ball in his own defensive third, to his right choice of pass, when to play the ball first time, when to take a touch, his awareness of which teammates are in space and finding that pass. It’s the simple stuff done to a serious, serious high standard. Then there is his ability to strike a ball. (HITC on Thomas Partey)

@@jerry3100 What an ignorant comment. Ødegaard is the defintion of consistency. Don't think he's had a bad game this entire season. Haaland on the other side is often invisible in games like this weekend against United. Ofc. different positions, and if you're not served... Well what can you do. But Haaland is also 2nd in the PL this season when it comes to missing big chances so think about what you say :P As a Norwegian I rate Ødegaard higher than Haaland. I said months ago that Ødegaard is extremely underrated. Most Norwegians don't even talk about him. They all talk about Haaland because Haaland is poaching mostly easy goals and making big headlines in media due to his goal tally. About time Ødegaard gets some spotlight.
